Historia
Iris Nightingale is more than okay. She has her life planned out to a perfect schedule. Work, run, sleep, repeat. She spends her quiet Friday nights sitting alone on a bench in the park, trying to push back the memories that no amount of running can help her escape. But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

Instant Replay! so good i listened to it again a week after finishing it. Such a cute and romantic story. Not too spicy. but he heated moments are the perfect touch. Hunter gives me Henry Cavil. Iris is intelligent and funny. Vivid, clear writing.

Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Both characters are relatable. Myles is well rounded and emotional in a good way which I don't think I get with the authors other male characters as much. Dafneys thoughts were comical. great sode characters. just the right amount of "lovey-dovey cheese" for me

Historia
Mickey Chambers is an expert at analyzing modern literature. But when it comes to figuring out her own story, she’s feeling a little lost. At thirty-three, she’s an adjunct instructor with a meager summer class schedule and too many medical bills, courtesy of her chronic illness. Picking up a bartending gig seems perfect. Sure, Mickey’s never done this before, but the gorgeous, grumpy bar owner, Diego Acosta, might be the perfect man to teach the teacher…if he wasn’t so stressed.

After spending less than one day together they were acting like they had been pining for eachother for weeks.
no actual time spent getting to know eachother at this point in the story.
Also kept pointing out how young the female protag looked for 33. If you're going to make your protagonists older, then own it.
Played to heavy Into the grumpy sunshine trope. but he seemed grumpy for no reason and she seemed sunshiny for no reason.
Most of the voices didn't change enough for me to recognize who was talking but I did overall enjoy the sound, cadence etc of the narrator. I'll look for more work by them.
I wanted to like the story, it gave me cringe instead so DNF.

good banter. well drawn characters. vivid setting. no plot but that's okay. the story was better for it. narrator was on point. a little slow. but I enjoyed the span of time and development of the characters relationship.

Historia
I'm madly in love with my best friend. That right there—that's my secret. Trevor and I grew up next door to one another. Yes. He's the boy next door. Even now, we rent opposite sides of a duplex, and we work across the aisle from one another at The Corn Corners Tribune. Basically, there isn't a part of my life Trevor hasn't touched. I take that back. He hasn't touched me. He's made it clear we're in the friend zone, and whatever feelings he had for me were a passing thing for him, whereas mine keep growing like a Chia pet on a humid summer day in the Midwest.

Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

E.Hs writing style is fantastic!
Revisado: 05-28-23
The way Emily Henri writes a scene and uses interiority is what sets her stories apart from other romances for me. it's a beautiful combination of gut punching thoughts and emotions and laugh out loud comedic situations.
I like the overall theme of..."regular-ness" her books carry. like these things could actually happen in real life to almost anyone.
I like January's approach to life. these terrible things are happening and feel all consuming but are actually not. she still goes on with her day. just like in real life. same for Gus.
it was a bit slower paced I think than People We Meet on Vacation but I like the characters backstory more.
cute, witty, inspiring. not too over the top. grounded in reality in a way that a lot of romances are not. (no shade. I read those too...see billionaire brothers sister secret baby hockey player werewolf)
keep them coming E.H!!!

House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge. Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright. The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless...sometimes pants-less. He’s the wrench in her carefully constructed plans.

cute, cheesy, good enough for me
Revisado: 04-24-23
I enjoyed this story. I thought the characters were well written and the town history, though a bit drawn out was a cute and drove the plot a bit.
narrator had a weird tone. she ended every sentenced in a way that seemed like she was trying to be profound but it never landed for me.
still a worth wile read. not sure I would have liked it without the audio though.
