I liked this story a lot. it was modern and fun without being saccharine or empty. the author made the story interesting without omitting or avoiding key sociopolitical themes. I appreciated how the writing was actively inclusive in a myriad of ways.

The performance was excellent, especially Miranda Jay. The sound quality was exceptional- maybe because this is an Audible Original production.
The the premise of The Starter Ex (a girlfriend so bad that she makes the next one look good) was clever if unrealistic. I liked the main characters well enough and I really liked the cultural setting. I thought the plot was a little thin and therefore the book seemed several chapters too long. The dialogue and the interplay among family members was entertaining. The sex scenes were not so engaging. They seemed a little embarrassing and rushed. Perhaps that’s typical of contemporary romance. I’m not sure because this is not my usual genre. I was inclined to give this three stars, but since I don’t usually read contemporary romance, I gave the novel the benefit of the doubt and increased my rating to four stars. It was good for a little diversion, but I’m looking forward to my next historical romance.

New author to me but I think I’m in love with the world you create. There is only so much you can do with a love story that’s not cliched and this book managed to throw some surprises. Absolutely worth reading. Narrators did a fantastic job too

I absolutely loved 'The Starter Ex' by Mia Sosa. I am glad the author talked about the discrimination and bullying the heroine experienced in school and that she was portrayed as still being kick ass.

It was nice to hear the family humor, the pressure kids feel, for getting the good education and taking care of our families. I am glad Jason and Vanessa found each other and their love for each other, providing the forgiveness to heal.

Noah Perez and Miranda Jay were marvelous narrators! I am now off to look up the other ten books written by Mia Sosa and check out other books narrated by Noah and Miranda.
