Historia
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

This series is one of the best I've read!
Revisado: 01-21-19
I was initially hesitant to start the series given the synopsis for the first book. I am sorry I waited. I am about to finish book 7 and now I am so sorry I have to wait for book 8. First - John Lee is an absolutely talented genius of narration. His performance brings the story and characters to life. He is truly among the royalty of gifted narrators. The story is so well written and the imagination of the author keeps the journey so interesting and entertaining, it is hard to stop listening. Each book is fairly long so they are a great value as well. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed these books and how entertaining they were for me. A good amount of humor, sarcasm, and lust to keeps the story fresh and surprising. Highly recommend! 5 stars.

Surprised it was so good!
Revisado: 08-05-18
First of all the narration was superb! Steven Pacey was amazing. Move him right into the Hall of Great Narrator Gods.
The story was so odd and creative that it kept me captivated through the whole, long tale. I highly recommend this audio book. Not many dull moments and the characters are completely unique and entertaining. The language and the plot are not PG-13 throughout so take that into consideration. Great story, great narrator, well worth the time and credit.

Historia
In 1984 a doomsday vault was constructed on a remote island in the Arctic Ocean. Its purpose was to preserve Earth's genetic history in the event of a global catastrophe. Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered. This one resting where no one ever expected. And the problem is, it's not ours. Yet even more curious than the vault itself is what lies inside. Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved. Waiting. No one knows who built it. Or when.

Revisado: 06-09-16
I was surprised how good the book was. After seeing the movie many years ago, I don't remember being that impressed with the story. The book, as is always the case, is much richer and gripping. I really couldn't put it down. It was good to the end with a finish you couldn't predict. I was pleasantly surprised and very entertained. I only wish it had been longer. Worth the credit.

Revisado: 05-17-16
I really wanted to like this book. I kept reading and waiting for it to really get going - sadly it never did. It bordered on depressing. Lots of angry, frustrated, and unhappy characters. I rode it out until the end - just to be sure there wasn't a big finish. There was no big finish. I would not recommend this book.

Historia
Sometimes the worst storms aren't from Mother Nature, and sometimes the worst nightmares aren't the ones in our heads. Mike Mitchell, an average New Yorker already struggling to keep his family together, suddenly finds himself fighting just to keep them alive when an increasingly bizarre string of disasters starts appearing on the world's news networks. As both the real world and the cyber world come crashing down, bending perception and reality, a monster snowstorm cuts New York off from the world, turning it into a wintry tomb where nothing is what it seems.

Surprisingly good post-cyber disaster novel.
Revisado: 05-02-16
I really didn't expect much from this one - but I was very surprised. The narrator did a very good job and the plot kept me interested. Credit worthy and interesting and the evolving plot keeps you wondering. It's a scary scenario to say the least and not so far fetched it couldn't happen.

A Hidden Jewel. Don't miss this.
Revisado: 12-19-15
This short little book is one of those you will listen to dozens of times in the future. It delves into your soul and is so powerful you'll want to read it again, right away. It is a gift to recommend to the people you love. Jeremy Irons performance is superb. It's hard to imagine anyone else could do it as well. It's short, there's really not much to go on -- a young shepherd following his dream, but you don't wan't to miss the journey. This will always be in my library.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

A very different and interesting heartfelt story. Yes, he's an ornery older guy with attitude, lots of it. It's funny, it's sad and he'll win you over too. Excellent narrator - custom made for the part. Worth the time and the credit. Wish it were longer.

Great Continuation of the Story -- A Treat !
Revisado: 09-23-15
Excellent job of bringing the story back ! The new author, David Lagercrantz, did a great job of keeping the characters and the story line feeling like a natural transition from the last book. Of course, having Simon Vance to narrate helped make the characters feel so familiar. I do wish it had been longer and I'm already sorry it'll be so long before the next installment. If you liked the first three books, it's a given - you have to read this one.
