Historia
We are 40 years into the future, and London is a city in decay. John Watson has returned from medical service in the war in Afghanistan and lives by himself in a run-down part of town. On his way home from work, he stumbles upon a beaten man in the street – unconscious and completely naked. His chances of survival are minimal. The same evening, a passenger plane crashes in Richmond Park. There are several hundred victims, and Watson and the mysterious man are left to their own devices.

A fresh new Sherlock
Revisado: 04-15-25
I must admit, I’m a bit of a Sherlock purest. I honestly never thought anyone could capture SirArthur Conan Doyle‘s voice as well as Laurie King. I was totally wrong. This was brand new perspective of Sherlock and Dr. Watson that set in the not so far away future.
The story itself was fantastic and captured me within the first page. Even though it’s set in the future, the story was not sci-fi or unbelievable, it was fantastic. The performance of the reader was also spot on. When he spoke Sherlock’s words, it was as if I was hearing the actual Sherlock.
I am looking forward to the next two books that the author has planned for this trilogy. I am only sad that it is going to be a trilogy and not a multi book series.

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Overall a good story
Revisado: 04-02-25
Overall, the story was pretty good. It wasn’t so good that I couldn’t stop listening, but when I was listening, it was very enjoyable.
While the performance was also good, the readers American accent was a bit like nails on a chalkboard for me. The California character sounds like he was California by way of Alabama. Other than that, she brought the story to life.
I would recommend this book to others, but I have a feeling this book would be better read thanlistened to.

PLEASE GET A NEW NARRATOR!!
Revisado: 12-07-24
I have to all the previous Carola Dunn audiobooks and have enjoyed them. The narration in this book is so bad I can't even really follow the story as I'm so distracted by the HORRIBLE reading. If you want to listen to bad cartoon like accents, then buy this book. After just 60 minutes into the book, I couldn't take it any longer and just stopped it. I would have returned it but I had waited too long. I will purchase the kindle version and read the book as Ms. Dunn's stories are a guilty pleasure as they are fun and light.
Do yourself and your ears a favor and don't buy the audible version, just read the book.

Please no more Kyf Brewer
Revisado: 01-10-20
I'm a fan of David Baldacci and I am enjoying this new series. However, this might be the last audio book of it I purchase if the producers of the audio version continue to use Kyf Brewer. I will give it to Mr. Brewer that his southern accent was passable but when he does pretty much any other accent he makes them all sound like dullards! It is cringe worthy every time I hear it. I feel bad for Brittany Pressley, who does a great job and if she was the only person performing I'd be giving a review of 5 stars. So I beg the audio producers to find another male performer if Ms. Pressley doesn't feel like she can do all the voices, I'm 100% sure she'd give a better performance than Mr. Brewer.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Fun Story
Revisado: 01-07-20
I enjoy David Baldacci's writing and story telling. My first thought was that the base of this story was a bit silly but in today's Political Climate perhaps it's not too far off base. Either way I enjoyed the characters and I am looking forward to reading more of this series. I purchased this on sale and it was well worth it. The only slight knock I would give it is that I really didn't enjoy the male voices, I thought it wasn't that great of a performance, not so bad that I couldn't listen, just not that great.

Enjoyable Story
Revisado: 11-01-19
The story is very enjoyable for a light easy story. The characters are interesting and the writer leaves you wanting more. However, I have to agree with other reviews that this is not the story for this narrator! Her interpretation of what an Old West Cowboy might sound like sounded more like someone with a brain injury trying to regain their ability to speak. I'm looking forward to the next story as I see there is a new narrator.

Completely enjoyed the story and the narration. Part of me wishes the performance was in a French accent since the story took place in France. However, I'd rather no accent then a bad accent so I can ding her for that! I look forward to other novels by Ms. Smith!

NOT Narrated by Jennifer Ikeda
Revisado: 01-23-19
The story is fine, not as great as the Discovery of Witches Trilogy, but it is nice to delve into some of the other characters. The super disappointing part of this is the narration. If you were hoping for Jennifer Ikeda who narrated the Trilogy then you too will be disappointed. The reading of this novel is very lack luster, the narrator literally sounds like she is just reading from the novel without much expression or story telling that goes into a good narration. I wish I had just bought the book to read rather than the audible version.
