Historia
According to the FBI, I was considered a serial murderer after three kills. What do they call me after fifty-two? They call me the Silencer. One final bullet would have been all it took to stop me from taking another soul, and I would have been doing Meridian City a service by pulling that trigger. An angel crying for help stopped me, and that night, I took three lives for her. Then three turned into eight. Then eight turned into twenty. Twenty turned into twenty-one. Twenty-one turned into twenty-three.

Hard to follow the plot. Meandering.
Revisado: 03-29-25
This book was not for me. Seemed like soft porn and detailed description of every encounter distracted from the story. Tried to skip ahead to find out what was going on with the leading characters, but the details were buried. Main character was very whiney. This book sat in my audible book library for months. When I got around to listening it was disappointing. Wish I could get my credit back. I was surprised by the many positive reviews.

I liked the book overall, until the ending. To me, the ending seemed silly. The main character was likeable at first. She later revealed herself to be a monster. There wasn't enough character developmen t to explain such a drastic shift.

Historia
My husband is dead. I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car. My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.

This story line was just silly. it had a plot that did not make
sense I kept listening in the hope it would get better. it did not. I enjoyed Frieda McFadden's other books
This book was not the same quality. It was a waste of time and money.

Do you love CheapRVLiving on YouTube? In celebration of 25-years of nomadic living, Bob Wells takes us back to the days before he made videos, when he first connected with his community through the written word, crafting and replying to countless blog posts. This inspiring collection offers a glimpse into the early chapters of Bob’s van life journey, long before the camera captured his story and those of others who have since welcomed him into their homes on wheels. Whether you are new to van life, a seasoned traveler, or simply dreaming of a life on the road, this blend of personal ...

Interesting but not what I'd hoped for.
Revisado: 02-10-25
First off, I'm a fan of Bob Wells and his adventurous outlook on life. in fact, I bought a Sienna Van and hoped to journey across the country after his blog inspired me. Hoping to learn the nuts and bolts of van life as a single woman, instead I found the book to be a detailed description of Bob's philosophy on life. I gathered he felt that having a career, buying a house, retiring at at 65, was a waste of time and effort. I don't agree that this is always true. Some find meaning and pleasure in their work. I did, until it was time to retire. I had hoped Bob would write about tips and resources on how to survive, thrive, stay safe, and enjoy travel while hooking up with kindred spirits. I like Bob Wells very much, but this particular book was hard to finish. That being said, Bob seems to be a very nice person who tries to help people. I had hoped to meet him at the Quartzite RV show last month. Alas, I could not find him. Maybe next year...

Attorney exploited a young client
Revisado: 10-26-24
Overall, the main character seemed like a pretty honorable person. I was shocked that he and his wife adopted a 14 year old rape victim's baby, coerced her into into giving him the baby without encouraging her to explore her other choices, and advised her not to hold the baby after his birth. He planned to represent the teen mom's brother (who killed the father) for years to come. The rapist/father of the baby was a local cop. Despite all this, the cop's family seemed decent. JaKe, the attorney, kept the adoption a secret from the family. How long could such a secret be kept in a small town. IMHO, this adoption scheme was unethical at best and made me feel sick.

Revisado: 10-21-24
Reading this book made me feel as though I missed a lot in her first book. Now I need to read the first book, NFVL, to understand the author better. Also, the ending made me wonder what happened to the author and her 4 dogs. To me, she was still at risk for self harm. Nothing had really been resolved. Though it was clear she loved her fur babies, she still did not really love herself. Oneline trolls can be so cruel. That's why I barely go on Facebook. It's sad, because some of those online sites could be so helpful in dealing with loneliness. Anyway, this author wrote a good book. I look forward to reading her next book.

I'd seen some of Dragonsky's U Tube videos before starting my AT thru hike on Feb, 26, 2021. I headed north myself from from Amicalola Falls before flipflopping from Bennington, Vt in mid August '21. Someone in Vermont, a shuttle driver I think, mentioned Dragonsky, having recently met her. It made me happy that she was still on the trail. I'd seem very little diversity on the AT and only a few black thru hikers. I hiked all but 250 miles of the AT as a 68 yr old solo white women and often felt out of place. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I wonder if Dragonsky ended up hiking the PCT and CDT. She is a strong and courageous woman. Her story is a great inspiration to me. She show a lot of class and resilience. Thank you Dragonsky!

The main character, Suicide Squad, told a good story. He had me completely absorbed in his AT trek. What I did not like was his self absorbtion and flippant attitude toward dying by suicide with his wonderful tramily close by to deal with the aftermath. He used the very threat of jumping off Katahdin to manipulate and hurt the people who loved him. He had no regard for the lives of those who would witness this act, as well as the rangers who risked their own lives to try to save him. His suicide plan casts a gloomy shadow over the whole story. He made wonderful friends that, IMHO, he did not deserve. If not for Squad's dark obsession with killing himself, this would have been one of my favorite AT stories.

Derick Lugo had never been hiking. He certainly couldn't imagine going more than a day without manicuring his goatee. But with a job cut short and no immediate plans, this fixture of the New York comedy scene began to think about what he might do with months of free time. He had heard of the Appalachian Trail, but he had never seriously considered attempting to hike all 2,184.2 miles of it. Suddenly he found himself asking, Could he do it?

I loved this book. The narration by the author made it especially heartwarming. I read other reviews and realized some listeners didn't like it. I did, though. Having hiked 2000 miles on the AT in 2021 as an introverted solo female pushing 70, I admired Derrick's resilience and confidence in interacting with others. In fact, I first listened to this book during an especially challenging section of the AT. There was sort of an informal Audible Book Club amongst thru hikers I met on my hike, and I recommened this book to other members. Thanks, Derrick, for providing entertainment and inspiration during my AT journey.

Historia
Growing up in the 1960s in the suburbs of Chicago, Meg Kissinger’s family seemed to live a charmed life. With eight kids and two loving parents, the Kissingers radiated a warm, boisterous energy. Whether they were spending summer days on the shores of Lake Michigan, barreling down the ski slopes, or navigating the trials of their Catholic school, the Kissingers always knew how to live large and play hard. But behind closed doors, a harsher reality was unfolding.

This was a very good read. The book had my complete attention until the final chapters. They read more like a college lecture.. As a social worker, i've worked with many homeless people. It was heart-wrenching to go to work everyday and see people living in such squalor. Each person was different and factors leading to homelessness were complicated. it's more complex than simply finding housing. Thank you to the author for telling the story of her family and bringing insight into this human tragedy.
