Historia
In Survival of the Richest, Rushkoff traces the origins of The Mindset in science and technology through its current expression in missions to Mars, island bunkers, AI futurism, and the metaverse. In a dozen urgent, electrifying chapters, he confronts tech utopianism, the datafication of all human interaction, and the exploitation of that data by corporations. Through fascinating characters, Rushkoff explains why those with the most power to change our current trajectory have no interest in doing so.

Very disappointed
Revisado: 07-10-23
He had so much potential to draw from, so many examples. He started off decently but then took a nose dive with his stealthy promotion of religion with his talk on scientism. He completely ignores the purpose of science and attacks it...losing any sort of credibility in my mind.

Historia
As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Not worth it.
Revisado: 09-19-22
Couldn't finish it. It glorifies hunting and completely overlooks the many indigenous communities that destroyed their environment. It's completely one sided and ingores real world problems in favor of a spiritual narrative that doesn't fit reality. It overlooks the fact that there isn't enough land for everone in the world to live like the most sustainable of indigenous societies of the past. Pure copium at best.
Sucks that indigenous wisdom has to come packed with spiritual nonsense. Big pass.

Historia
Farming is the world's greatest cause of environmental destruction - and the one we are least prepared to talk about. We criticize urban sprawl, but farming sprawls across 30 times as much land. We have ploughed, fenced and grazed great tracts of the planet, felling forests, killing wildlife, and poisoning rivers and oceans to feed ourselves. Yet millions still go hungry.

This book truely describes the situation we all face and the route forward. I can't express it enough how important it is for everyone to read/listen to this book and the solution(s) it offers.

Historia
The Ministry for the Future is a masterpiece of the imagination, using fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, post-apocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us - and in which we might just overcome the extraordinary challenges we face.

overly optimistic ending, still great read.

While it has an overly optimistic ending, i think this is still a great listen for those who want to understand the global implications of catastrophic climate change. The opening and first half do a great job in this reguard.

Historia
This book is about pleasure. It’s also about pain. Most important, it’s about how to find the delicate balance between the two, and why now more than ever finding balance is essential. We’re living in a time of unprecedented access to high-reward, high-dopamine stimuli: drugs, food, news, gambling, shopping, gaming, texting, sexting, Facebooking, Instagramming, YouTubing, tweeting....

Absolute garbage
Revisado: 01-26-22
What a load of garbage. She constantly cites people from 200 years ago and beyond, likely because she is so out of touch with reality, peer reviewed scientific research, and what actually causes addiction…unmet social needs, discrimination, income inequality/poverty, abuse, etc. She spends an entire chapter trying to convince the reader that pain is something to admire and that trying to find happiness is the root to our collective issues. She gives a reasonable point now and then but goes to great length to frame them in a way that is tantamount to spreading misinformation. Her approach has been tried and found to fail again and again, only this time she wraps it up in nice little 21st century packaging for those who can’t seem to think critically. I’m a medical practitioner. I was hoping this book would be a good resource for my clients but now I feel like I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone for any reason. Do yourself a favor and find another book and another author. I regret purchasing this load of utter garbage.

Historia
Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, the “Joyful Vegan,” has guided countless individuals through the process of becoming vegan. In The Joyful Vegan, she shares her insights into why some people stay vegan and others don’t. Understanding that the food is the easy part of being vegan, Colleen turns her attention to what she believes is the most challenging - dealing with the social, cultural, and emotional aspects: being asked to defend your eating choices, living with the awareness of animal suffering, feeling the pressure to be perfect, and experiencing guilt, remorse, and anger.

Super disappointing
Revisado: 10-06-21
The first half of the book starts off great but the second part is filled with carnist apologizing, woo woo thinking, and a ton of contradictory mezsages. She seems to foget that going vegan is for the animals, and our planet. She definitely seems to think saving our world isn't worth sacrificing a few relationships with fragile people who have no intention to change and who are the perpetrators of the violence, hate, and bigotry. This book fuels anti vegan arguments in the second half. Definitely avoid this book and the author's podcast...which is what she really seems to want to promote.

Tons of hype and misrepresentations
Revisado: 12-02-20
The author seems more concerned about social justice issues than health. The evidence is lacking and greatly misrepresented. I'm a big proponent of treating everyone equally and destroying the factors that cuase medical injustice but the scientific evidence does not show that obesity is in any way healthy or normal throughout human history. The evidence presented here was cherry picked for a social justice cause and is not based in the totality of the scientific literature.

Historia
Current medical wisdom advises that anyone suffering from diabetes or prediabetes should eat a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. But in this revolutionary audiobook, Cyrus Khambatta, PhD, and Robby Barbaro, MPH, rely on a century of research to show that advice is misguided. While it may improve short-term blood glucose control, such a diet also increases the long-term risk for chronic diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease, and fatty liver disease. The revolutionary solution is to eat a low-fat plant-based whole-food diet.
