Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality

Couldn’t get over the quality of audio to even listen
Revisado: 11-24-23
She sounds so far away from the microphone in an empty room, sounds like I’m hearing a person on speakerphone. If I can’t stand the audio quality, how am I going to listen to a full book?

Historia
In 2014, the world witnessed the start of a mysterious series of cyberattacks. Targeting American utility companies, NATO, and electric grids in Eastern Europe, the strikes grew ever more brazen. They culminated in the summer of 2017, when the malware known as NotPetya was unleashed, penetrating, disrupting, and paralyzing some of the world's largest businesses—from drug manufacturers to software developers to shipping companies. At the attack's epicenter in Ukraine, ATMs froze. The railway and postal systems shut down. Hospitals went dark.

Historia
While there are many stereotypes about military spouses, there are a lot of things most people simply don’t know or don’t understand until they’ve become part of the military community. Maybe you’re new to being a military spouse, maybe you just met someone and you aren’t married yet, but things are heading in that direction, maybe you’re a veteran who is now a military spouse, or maybe you’re what we call a "seasoned" military spouse just looking for new reading material.

Revisado: 04-08-21
Hearing this MilSpouse’s perspective on her family life is so validating! Every topic she mentioned I WISH she had even more to say about! But it was an easy listen and will probably listen again!

Only Got 5 Minutes In…

Good advice, but not worth listening to reader
Revisado: 06-25-20
Her cadence was so choppy, it took away from the actual text she was trying to convey. It was either read in spurts rather quickly, or slowly. If she kept the same pace, it would have been more enjoyable to listen to. I’d rather read this in text than listen to her.

Historia
From the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist: a pathbreaking examination of our huge crime and incarceration problem that looks at the influence of the family - specifically one Oregon family with a generations-long legacy of lawlessness. Examining the long history of the Bogles, a white family, Butterfield offers a revelatory look at criminality that forces us to disentangle race from our ideas about crime and, in doing so, strikes at the heart of our deepest stereotypes.

Triggers of Abuse
Revisado: 04-26-19
I understood this would be a book of crime, as how it runs in families, but wasn’t prepared for the detailed descriptions of abuse throughout the book. Wouldn’t read it again, but so glad I read it! Very intriguing read.

Rated a one because even in the prologue it had to force her opinion on God on the reader at least twice. I have no interest in reading it further.
