Historia
After years of searching, a new cave filled with Dead Sea Scrolls is found, and among them are bizarre books of actual magic. Terrorist groups and multinational corporations scramble to acquire these treasures in the hopes that magic is the true WMD of the 21st Century. But everyone who goes near those scrolls goes insane. The fabric of reality is shredding. Is this the result of ancient magic, or is it a new bioweapon that fractures the mind of anyone exposed?

As usual Jonathan Mayberry keeps yet another Joe Ledger book creative and well written. This, by far, is my favorite. The fact Mr. Church and Toys get in on the action made it that much more. That's all I can say without spoiling it for you.

must listen
Revisado: 09-22-24
The ideas that formed this book were pretty original. I got it the day hit audible and found myself backing up chapters just to make sure I didn't miss anything (I had a lot of interruptions) Darn if I didn't stay up trying to listen to the whole thing as I was hooked from the start. Julie you outdid yourself.

This read is a teen book
Revisado: 08-09-24
After listening in it's entirety, I decided that it's simplistic writing as opposed to adult reads of the same genres makes it a teen and young adult type nook. It is more innocent and mild, yet interesting. I believe the other ratings reflect this. If you are used to a heart bounding adult thriller, this book is not for you.

Historia
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

I appreciated the way she showed the way the sisters handled the trauma they had endured as coping mechanisms can be so different for everyone. The vet really added that caring acceptance of those you wouldn't expect. I highly recommend this as it's not as predictable as you may think.

Written well, holds your attention
Revisado: 06-28-24
Ray Porter, narrator, was the perfect choice with his ability to keep each character's voice identifiable.
The book was well written and relatable as I was living in El Paso during a part of the onset of mayhem caused by the cartels in Mexico. This is a series best described as gripping as it holds your attention and will make it hard to stop listening to it.
If you enjoy listening to books about the War on Drugs get it. Other than the character names, it's as close to the facts as you can get.

Keeps ypu hanging until the end
Revisado: 05-21-24
I usually can pick out the "who done it" better than most picking up on the obscure hints most overlook. This one stumped me. To incorporate both past and present times and persons, the story is one the leads through the webs of a girl, mow a woman who could not speak for herself despite being alive. Read it all the way through, it's worth it.

Historia
Dexter meets Grammar Nazi in this psychological thriller with a twist. Seventeen gruesome killings were report across the US, within six months and there was one clear connection among victims. They were all writers. While media was decorating the murders with sensationalist stories, and law enforcement was playing catch-up, the homicidal maniac remained elusive and secretive. The situation took an interesting turn when one day she appeared on a dark-net talk show for an honest chat. Though her reason for being there was not a quest for fame but something far more disturbing.

Disappointed of the overall story
Revisado: 04-07-24
Wen the book began, I got the impression it was going to end up being a cheeky comedy. Around the 2nd or 3rd chapter I realized it was a poorly written book without any depth. To make matters worse the lack of personality and poorly timed speech on phrases. For example: 'Good(short pause) Morning and at the end 'Diamond, Diamond the end Diamond Diamond'. Audible, please wait a but long for technology to improve. The virtual narration now is hiwever, good for textbooks and similar dry reading.
