sweet story
Revisado: 04-24-25
I love the story. love the author. but I absolutely have to rave about the performance. Tor is great as usual, but I don't think I've heard an audiobook with Diontae Black before and he was amazing. I felt so much actual personality in everything he spoke.

didn't like the quick ending
Revisado: 09-12-24
spoilers, but I was disappointed that they ended things and then don't communicate with a 2 month time skip, immediate "im sorry, I was wrong I do actually want you" and just all is forgiven?
I liked most of the story before that

Historia
Daniel Mulligan is tough, snarky, and tattooed, hiding his self-consciousness behind sarcasm. Daniel has never fit in - not at home in Philadelphia with his auto mechanic father and brothers, and not at school where his Ivy League classmates looked down on him. Now, Daniel's relieved to have a job at a small college in Holiday, Northern Michigan, but he's a city boy through and through, and it's clear that this small town is one more place he won't fit in.

Sweet story, narrator a bit off
Revisado: 03-02-24
The story itself was great. the first I've heard from this author. liked each of their struggles to be accepted and loved by the other. I was able to predict the reason for the conflict, and the conclusion of the brother coming as soon as the flashback happened early on. but I am interested in his story.
I think the only thing I didn't love about this book was the narrator. he has a great voice, but he didn't really distinguish between characters consistently and had pauses on strange places in the sentences, and put enunciation on the wrong words at times like he didn't know where a sentence was going. plus there was at least twice where he sighed while speaking. it was just a little strange.
overall though I would reccomend the book as it was very enjoyable.

Historia
Every bartender should follow one simple rule—don't go home with the customers. That’s been easy for me to stick to, until the night a cocky, confident, and sinfully charming hockey star walks into my bar. This sexy athlete is too hard to resist, especially when he makes it clear how much he wants the “sarcastic, witty, hot AF” guy behind the bar—also known as me.

cute book! awesome performances!
Revisado: 12-06-23
I think way more audiobooks should be read this way with at least each main character having a set voice, rather than each narrator doing their own impression of the other. ALSO, bloopers this way are so fun! I was laughing so hard.
the book itself was good, short and sweet, a tiny bit too close to insta-love for me, as a week is not enough time imo, but otherwise I liked it.

Historia
Charles Preston Carmichael is the most infuriating man I've ever met. I want to sock the golden boy of college hockey right in the mouth. He enjoys telling me everything I'm messing up—publicly. And since he's my roommate for the next year, I can't avoid him. Yet there's something about him that makes me watch him. Something dark. A secret I want to uncover. When he returns from a weekend away, broken and haunted, I can't keep my distance anymore. He needs someone, and I'll be damned if it's not me.

So much heart
Revisado: 11-01-23
I absolutely love this book. devoured it on kindle and then waited and waited for it to be out on audio. and it's even better.
their relationship starts off strange and seemingly one sided in ways, but they also depend on one another. I think one tiny point closer to the end this book gets a tiny bit cheesy and rushed, but that's just my opinion. overall everything is dealt with so well and I thoroughly enjoyed feeling these characters emotions and growth. Especially loved how much support the friends gave them once they realized it was serious between them, and that Preston was struggling with something they were unaware of.
can't wait for the next book!

Historia
Most people called it a cult. But for 20 years, Josh and Caleb called it home. In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farmwork and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners' world. But Joshua doesn't need temptation to sin. His whole life he's wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves. It can never be.
