Historia
Set on the outskirts of a small Southern town, The Grass Harp tells the story of three endearing misfits - an orphaned boy and two whimsical old ladies - who one day take up residence in a tree house. As they pass sweet yet hazardous hours in a china tree, The Grass Harp manages to convey all the pleasures and responsibilities of freedom. But most of all it teaches us about the sacredness of love, “that love is a chain of love, as nature is a chain of life.”

The narrator sounded like such an old lady. With that voice, it’s hard to imagine a beautiful lady (who is hard to sympathize with… being so mean) and her 12 year old daughter. It was boring and long, but had a nice message in the end.

Loved the narration! I’m hoping to find more stories read by him. This story was unusual…still don’t understand what it was about.

I kept waiting for it to get better…NYTimes gave it such a great rating. They must have liked it because of the abortion. You could let anybody ramble on about their life and get a just as interesting/or not story.

Historia
May Sarton's parrot chatters away as Sarton looks out the window at the rain and contemplates returning to her "real" life - not friends, not even love, but writing. In her bravest and most revealing memoir, Sarton casts her keenly observant eye on both the interior and exterior worlds. She shares insights about everyday life in the quiet New Hampshire village of Nelson, the desire for friends, and need for solitude - both an exhilarating and terrifying state.

Historia
Jimmy Lee Hickam grew up along Red Dog Road, a dead-end strip of gravel and mud buried deep in the bowels of Appalachian Ohio. It is the poorest road, in the poorest county, in the poorest region of the state. To make things worse, the name Hickam is synonymous with trouble. Jimmy Lee hails from a heathen mix of thieves, moonshiners, drunkards, and general anti-socials that for decades have clung to both the hardscrabble hills and the iron bars of every jail cell in the region. This life, Jimmy Lee believes, is his destiny, someday working with his drunkard father at the sawmill, or sitting next to his arsonist brother in the penitentiary.

Historia
Memories are the ultimate contradiction. They can warm us on our coldest days - or they can freeze a loved one out of our lives forever. The McCarthy family has a trove of warm memories. Of innocent first kisses. Of sumptuous family meals. Of wondrous lessons learned at the foot of a rocking chair. But they also have had their share of icy ones. Of words that can never be unsaid. Of choices that can never be unmade. Of actions that can never be undone.

Revisado: 12-14-22
So many words for not much of a story, like the author was trying to make a 100,000 minimum out of a short story. Unbelievable, weird situations and problems all fixed in the end by grandpa. Not really that religious, just ridiculous. Too many flowery words to handle…can’t believe I listened to the whole thing, like eating a whole bag of flour hoping for a chocolate chip. Don’t use that in your next book, though it makes more sense than your load of similes. Sorry

Historia
In late March 1944, as Stalin’s forces push into Ukraine, young Emil and Adeline Martel must make a terrible decision: Do they wait for the Soviet bear’s intrusion and risk being sent to Siberia? Or do they reluctantly follow the wolves - murderous Nazi officers who have pledged to protect “pure-blood” Germans? The Martels are one of many families of German heritage whose ancestors have farmed in Ukraine for more than a century.

Not that religious-a great true history story!
Revisado: 10-13-22
You might think that this book is too religious from some reviews that don’t like it mentioning God. I don’t know how this family could help but pray to God and be thankful to God. I loved that it’s a real story and amazed how things turned out for this family. It gives a person a reason to never give up and be grateful. Definitely recommend…don’t be worried you’ll be converted or something, but that might be nice.
