I tried. I really really tried.
Revisado: 03-25-25
The concept is very interesting... but it never happened... I am 12 hours into these books and nothing has happened. It has literally been 12 hours of set up. I assume the story will take off soon, but that is what I have been thinking since hour 2.
And the author reading her own books in a near monotone voice. A text to speech program could have done a better job. I pay for audio books because they have different voices and emotion. This did not. I am truly interested to see how she will play the King Arthur and his gang into future time, but I just cant put any more time into it. I feel like there was an effort to increase the word count so everything was drug out as much as possible. Its like watching those youtube videos that just keep you interested enough to not click away, but take forever to actually show you something. coupled with reading your own book badly, it seems like this was a money grab. I wish I could get my money back.

Historia
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Great growing realistic story. and funny
Revisado: 10-21-24
Excellent twist on the basic "I found a spaceship" concept. None of that ""yeah, who would do tha? stuff. Story that keeps growing realistically from book to book. I am 8 books into it now and just felt it really deserved a review so others can find this gem. It is well written and hilarious with sarcastic humor. I found myself laughing out loud... no.. actually cracking up many times... One of my top series ever.

Great Story. Unpredictable. Funny
Revisado: 10-20-24
An interesting and fun progression of that basic "gut finds spaceship" concept. The characters and likable, and down right funny. I found myself laughing out loud... No, Cracking the hell up at least a couple times per book. But funny in a "not trying to be" kind of way. Just great sarcastic fun.
The story seems more realistic on how it would really go if true. Interesting, and wonderous. But I can clearly see there is room for much much more story. I can't wait...

Historia
In the first book, On Mars, Jason stumbled across the escape pod to a 3,500-year-old derelict spacecraft. The AI for the ship then informed Jason that he was now the Captain of a massive alien Starship due to him having traces of alien DNA. That 'should' have been good news. But the bad news was that Jason's DNA has an additional trait, one that shouldn't be there... The last time anyone had one of the forbidden DNA traits, it started the war that left the ship derelict. To fight the aliens that want him dead, Jason must become something from their nightmares... This second book starts with...

Good story. Terrible narration
Revisado: 09-25-24
The reason why I pay for audible books is for the personalized narration and different voices. The computer narration, even though it’s inflections are pretty good. It’s still very monotone. The AI Often gets confused on if an a is a long sound or short sound for example. And words like errr or ahhh are complete loss. If the price were less, I may purchase AI read books, but it would have to be significantly less. The story is quite interesting and unique. However, a little bit redundant instance, giving both metrics and standard measurements for everything. Just pick one.

Great concept, but unrealistic main characture
Revisado: 08-05-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
If I could start all over again I would NOT have spent the time and money on this book(s). The characters are unbelievable and the situations easily avoidable with the slightest of forethought. I found myself spending more time frustrated and even angry than enjoying the story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Scrapyard Ship?
The main character was not believable. It was his stupidity as a commander that kept getting him in trouble. If he was a normal Joe that was learning on the fly, It would be understandable, but in this case he is a decorated Nave Seal Officer. He makes mistakes that are silly at best but to me just ridicules. These silly mistakes are what creates the situation that he must find a way out of, but how he got there is ridicules.
-I cant give examples without giving away story plot, but its like a sway team storming a house and not looking in the closet. Over and Over again. And the character doesn't seem to learn from his silly mistakes. I got the 2nd and 3rd books hoping he would figure it out, but he hasn't. He's like a great tactician and leader that forgets to bring ammo for his gun. Very Frustrating!
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was great. One of the only reasons I was able to get as far as I did.
Any additional comments?
A couple consultants, or just some common sense would have made this a great book(s)
