Historia
If society fell apart, could your family survive? Jim Powell thought he was ready. He was a regular guy who travelled a lot for work and hated every second he was away from his young family. But when ISIS operatives unleashed a coordinated attack on America’s infrastructure, his entire world shattered. The electrical grid collapsed, communication networks were damaged, critical bridges and dams were destroyed, and major fuel refineries have gone up in massive fiery clouds.

Sexist rhetoric
Revisado: 05-23-24
After listening to the main character calling a woman a bitch and several other rude comments, the last straw was when he suggested one of the women with him do a more impressive display in order to get a truck to stop. Not to mention the women were portrayed as annoying and dense. Yuck. I didn’t make it past the second chapter.

I’m giving the series a chance
Revisado: 03-12-24
I really want to like this. It has all of the markers of stories I would like but I feel like I missed something either there is a book before or the author doesn’t do a good job with her back story. It leaves you a little disconnected from the characters. I like the narrator though so I’m going to give it a chance. Also side note, hoping the whiny Oliver gets over himself.

Too many plot holes
Revisado: 01-29-24
The story is leaking like my dish strainer. The author does that thing where she makes her characters ask dumb questions to advance the plot. But when she’s maintaining one of her characters is a dr and the other a pepper you expect them to have some intelligence. Also they make incredibly stupid choices. I read one and two and they had similar problems but I was hoping they would get better. (It’s been known to happen) I love the prepping and apocalyptic genre. Just could no longer stand the plot holes.

The old ass men lusting after a 14 year old stood out for me the most.
Revisado: 01-07-24
I loved the books with Mac. Barons allowed her freedom to make mistakes and I loved that. In this book the man you believe will eventually be her end game is super controlling while simultaneously putting her in danger over and over with what’s seems to be very little regard. While Christian is just constantly lusting after her and the ick is just too much. Gross. Moning should have done better. This was in poor taste.
But…. Ima do a quick search of the next book. If a good decade hasn’t passed and Danny hasn’t grown way up. I might have to abandon this one.

As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. Toxic AF
Revisado: 04-05-23
Just going to leave what I wrote my daughter about this book right here. Maybe someone can relate. : I’m reading this book and in my book this guy just had a huge violent tantrum then cried around about how he can’t control it and he had a bad day and he loves her and he’s supposed to be the hero of this toxic ass book and I’m mad that I can’t return it because I know too much now to even enjoy this trash and I hate that. I mean not really but part me wishes I was my dumbass unhealthy self again so I could enjoy a good old fashioned toxic romance . 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😵💫
The narrator was ok but a good deal over dramatic.

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

Fun and interesting but lacking some editing. Excellent narration.
Revisado: 03-24-23
This book was fun and interesting but….. the author over used the word “wildly” as and adjective. Someone was always wildly doing or feeling something. I should have counted it was that excessive. Over use of a single word is a big pet peeve of mine so it may not bother others. Also, there wasn’t much chemistry between the heroin and her love interest. It was mostly unbelievable. The heroin is also obtuse about some things. If you’re going to make a smart feminine heroin I’m all for it! But don’t insult our intelligence by making them intentionally stupid about other things. It’s unbelievable and makes the character less likable. Otherwise this series has a lot of potential, an original concept that could be really fun.

This is book two and it doesn’t give any back story. And I thought the the story teller was a man because the narrator is a man. 😆 I give up.

If God created the perfect man he would closely resemble Creed - on the outside, that is. He’s as cavalier as they come. Unconcerned. Cold. Dismissive. I wonder if he has any feelings at all. And when his lips touch mine, everything goes black. He takes me into his world, and it’s the most magical thing I’ve ever experienced. And I’m sucked in time and time again. Like a moth to the flame, I am ready to be set alight.

This book is about a bunch of jerks. While I love a good steamy romance this book seems like some young thugs day dream fantasy. Definitely not for the woman’s gaze. 🤢

Definitely worth listening too!!
Revisado: 12-02-22
I can’t decide if I loved the book or just the narrator. The narration is so good that I loved listening to this book. I was thrilled to find a new twist on the age old good witch-bad witch story. It was interestingly developing. Some of the characters would have benefited from more depth. Actually most could have been better developed. But still I am intrigued and plan to buy the next book. ♥️ have to find out what happened to Nathan and Gabriel. 😍

I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived—and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again. Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us.
