AI voice made me stop listening
Revisado: 01-03-24
The AI narrator had no inflection. Ever character sounded the same. I couldn’t even finish the book so not sure if the story was good or not. Now I’ll have to buy the book and read it rather than listen to it. STOP PUTTING PEOPLE OUT OF WORK FOR AI technology bc the AI is awful.

Historia
Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

There was no better feeling than getting to show this book to the next generation. I loved these books in my teens and it helped me a lot. I downloaded the audio book to help my little brother read along as he now navigates learning & reading higher level books with his adhd. the audio was perfect in helping him stay focused longer, more interested, process more of the info he was reading himself, and more. I loved it 💗 on to book 2!

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. Historia
Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create. Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she’s afraid she cannot stop.

my favorite it!
Revisado: 04-05-23
I have already finished all three books but catching fire was definitely my favorite! wouldn’t change a thing about it!
except maybe that I read them back when they first came out!
Potential spoilers for both this book and the final book:
I know this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t hate Gale like everyone else. not that I want Katniss and Gale to be End Game, but with having finished all 3 books I feel like the hate comes from most having the same worldview as Katniss/ being very team Peeta (which is totally fine!!!!), but I think he gets a little too much hate for a lot of things, especially a lot of things other characters are given grace for… He just like most of the characters is a teenager so I didn’t expect him to be as emotionally mature as Peeta (so greatly is), I also think we forget how traumatic it is to watch a person you love in the games. he and Katniss were both fantasy’s to escape reality for each other, and while the games changed both of them it changed her more & his inability to understand/see her change is something most people do and don’t realize. I think had they not been forced back into the area she would’ve ended up with gale.
finally I apologize for the long winded rambling review! I just loved the books and have had no one to really talk to about them! plus I know I should’ve left this on the last book but I wanted my longest review to be on my favorite books

Historia
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding. It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans - except Katniss.

sad it’s over
Revisado: 04-05-23
the hunger games came out and were beyond popular when I was in middle school, but I didn’t read much at all back then and I didn’t want to read it bc everyone else was… I regret that now bc I enjoy loved the books!
I am fairly happy with the ending, though I would’ve loved it more had 2 particular deaths not occurred 😭

wanted more
Revisado: 04-05-23
I enjoyed the book, it was interesting getting some back story on the Hunger Games and president Snow. I probably would have enjoyed it more if we got some pov from Lucy, it wasn’t a standalone, or we got more of Snow’s story.
narrator was good and the plot kept me to the end.
