Historia
The Overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fable that range from antebellum New York to the late 20th-century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. An air force loadmaster in the Vietnam War is shot out of the sky, then saved by falling into a banyan. An artist inherits 100 years of photographic portraits, all of the same doomed American chestnut. A hard-partying undergraduate in the late 1980s electrocutes herself, dies, and is sent back into life by creatures of air and light.

Wonderfully written
Revisado: 03-01-24
The writing was fantastic. It was very visual, and did a great job putting you there in the moment with the characters. This book has a lot of depth and character development, so be prepared for a lengthy listen. It's worth it though. Some have criticized the performance, but I enjoyed it. Especially the narration of the hearing impaired scientist. That must have been tough to get right! I'm not a "tree hugger" by any stretch, but do love to be out in the deep woods. This book really captures that sense of smallness an old forest evokes in the soul. It was a really beautiful book.

Fun but lacking
Revisado: 02-14-24
It was a good story. The writing could use some more color. There wasn't much depth to it. It needed more descriptors of the action and locations. It leaves the reader to come up with what things look like.
The virtual voice is trash. It always is. AI doesn't pick up on phonetically spelled words, innuendo, or the emotion of the moment. It's just a cheap cop out to get the book out there.

Great Writing, Weak Performance
Revisado: 01-11-24
Great stories. I really enjoyed three of them, and liked the others. The generated voice was emotionless, and that really took you out of it at times though. They should do this over with a voice actor.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Great Premise That's It
Revisado: 11-11-23
The premise is fantastic. It's new, sci-fi, dystopian, and original.
The story lacks needed depth, is overly political, and has a weak ending.
The first three chapters had me excited, but the author failed to flesh out and build the characters. They just made character leaps with little input. This could have been done much better, especially with the production value.
