Historia
Ellie Simons stands to inherit her Uncle Merlin's huge English country house. But on three utterly bizarre conditions. One: she must lose sixty-three pounds (rude!). Two: she must marry the fake fiance she's been passing off as her true love all weekend. And three: she must catch whoever killed Uncle Merlin in the first place.

such an odd collection of characters
Revisado: 03-07-25
This book started off so strangely, that I wasn't sure I wanted to continue. But I found myself being drawn back to see what was happening with Ben and Ellie. It grew on me and I kept listening and cheering Ellie on with her redecorating and hopes of romance. The mystery then continued to keep me guessing. I enjoyed the resolution, which I didn't see coming. This is a fun read or listen.

Historia
Miss Clara Marie Stanton's family may be eccentric, but they certainly aren't insane. London, England, 1860: When Clara's ex-fiancé begins to spread rumors that her family suffers from hereditary insanity, it's all she can do to protect them from his desperate schemes, society's prejudice, and a lifetime in an asylum. Then Clara's grandfather Drosselmeyer brings on an apprentice with a mechanical leg, and all pretense of normalcy takes wing.

Good story, but too preaching
Revisado: 09-26-24
This book was a charming story, with endearing characters. However in the last quarter of the book, the author pushes their own religious beliefs on the reader (or listener) without really being a necessity to telling the saga. This was almost a deal breaker to this reader's completing the book.

virtual voice pulls down quality

This is a book with a good plotline, but the lack of character definition normally provided by a real person narrating does not help the audible experience. I was sorely disappointed by the "one level" of performance quality. This authors work deserved better.

Historia
July 1912. Lady Hardcastle and her tenacious lady’s maid, Florence Armstrong, are enjoying a convivial gathering at the home of their dear friends, the Farley-Strouds. The only fly in the idyllic ointment seems to be the lack of musical entertainment for the forthcoming summer party—until, that is, Lady Hardcastle’s brother Harry calls with news of a murder.

Lady H and Flo do it again!
Revisado: 06-12-24
This latest installment in the Lady Hardcastle series is an exciting romp with characters who have become dear friends. Lady H and Flo are called on to save the Empire by thwarting an assassination attempt that would undoubtedly start a World War. Through many twists and turns, these two daring ladies, with the help of Harry, Lady H's brother, keep the evil doers at bay. I love this series for the brilliant characters and snappy dialogue. Treat yourself to a fantastic journey through early 20th Century England and a few laughs along the way!!

Historia
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

Totally offbeat, yet enjoyable
Revisado: 05-30-24
All of us have had someone who was so evil, degrading and just downright mean to us that iT Might have caused a fleeting thought about how much better the world would be without them in it. This book, through intrigue and humor broaches that subject while making the "bad guy" into the protagonist. The plot is such that you are soon sucked into the lives of the 3 students, eventually cheering for their "graduation". The book is definitely a twisted tale, but still extremely entertaining.
