Historia
Remington Stringer has never been like most girls. She's outspoken and brazen and wants nothing more than to escape the Nevadan hell hole she calls home. On the brink of 18, with a deceased mother and a well-meaning, yet absent father, she's been forced to fend for herself. The only person she's ever been able to depend on is her borderline obsessive stepbrother. But even that anchor is quickly becoming a loose cannon. So when she gets the opportunity to attend the best private school in the state during her senior year of high school, she jumps at the chance.

Good story, bad narration.
Revisado: 03-14-25
I liked the story, but really hated the narration. Being a Las Vegas resident, when the female narrator says, "Neh vodd aw" when it's pronounced, "Neh vadd uh" is like nails on a chalk board. That's nothing, though, compared to the male narration, who sounds like an elderly special ed teacher. There is nothing sexy about sounding like an octogenarian reading a bedtime story. Hard to get passed that.

Historia
As a vampyr who was born to fulfill a prophecy, my life was planned before I was created. I obeyed every rule, and I became the perfect vampyr, but one night changed everything. Rejected by the man who was destined for me, who was supposed to love me forever, I do the only thing I can. I flee into the night, nursing my broken heart. Being a rejected mate corrupts the soul, however, and in this game of Courts and Kings, nobody wins. Nobody except the monsters in the shadows.

Waste of time and money
Revisado: 11-27-24
Female narrator was okay. The male was awful; he sounded bored. The first couple chapters started off interesting, then it devolved into a weird group sex/meal and lost any plot. The writing wasn’t even good at that point. Also, wish I had known it was a reverse harem book - don’t like and wasn’t expecting.

Historia
After a bad breakup, Helene Janssen runs away to Alaska to find some peace and quiet. She’s been dreaming up bits and pieces of a novel for years and hopes to finally have time to write it. On her first night there, Helene meets Sebastien Montague, a crab fisherman who looks exactly like the hero in the book she’s working on. But how is that even possible? Sebastien seems to recognize Helene, too, but he lies about it and brushes her off, even though their chemistry is immediate and undeniable.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-14-24
The story sounded fantastic, but the actual telling was boring - how can you make an external Romeo and Juliet love story dull? Even worse, the female narrator made every male voice high pitched and whiny, like a nerdy cartoon character - even Romeo! So obnoxious.

I can summarize this in three sentences: Girl meets boy, who turns out to be her teacher. They pretend they never met and she stays in his class. After she turns in final, they decide to date. The End.
There is no tension, no flirtation, no longing, just no chemistry. This summary is almost as long as the story. The female narrator was fine, but the male sounded like Mr. Rogers - not sexy at all.

Historia
The first time I met Weston, he was my psychologist. I never planned to see him again. We lived in two different worlds. He was responsible. I was reckless. He was the good guy. They'd labeled me as out-of-control. He was harmony on a warm beach day. I was the hurricane that erupted through. But one night, I call him to rescue me. And he does more than that.

Bad story, bad performance
Revisado: 06-18-23
I couldn't get too far because the main female character was horrible - shallow, selfish, immature, and yet somehow arrogant. She may have had some character growth at some point, but I wouldn't know because the actress who voiced her was so bad, I had to quit. She drug out every last word, like she was too lazy to finish the sentence. If she was trying to talk like Thurston Howell from Gilligan's Island, she nailed it. Unfortunately, the sample was only the man's voice, which I could have lived with,

Tessa O'Connell is a girl as ordinary as they come - or so she thinks. Her aim for senior year is to keep her head down yet somehow manage to convince her childhood love, Jay Stone, to love her back. What she isn't prepared for is for Jay's brother, Cole, to return to town and change the life she's always been seemingly content to live. Tall, gorgeous as all hell, and a bad boy with ocean blue eyes and the perfect edge of adorability, he was her greatest tormentor, her number one enemy.

Narrator's voice is horrible ....
Revisado: 02-18-23
I really wanted to get into this book. But the narrator's voice, when she voiced the male main character, was so grating that I couldn't listen. She sounded like she was trying to do an impression of Nelson on the Simpsons. You just can't find that remotely romantic. Moreover, although they were in high school, they were extremely shallow. had to give up. wasted time and money.

Mixed feelings - the good, the bad and the ugly...
Revisado: 08-28-17
THE GOOD: writting flows well and has some humorous moments. THE BAD: the hero is controlling and manipulative, and worries more about his feelings than hers - he decides that she cannot stay mad at him after he is done being mad at her (and after he is done punishing her) and after her home is vandalized, he never even asks her how she feels, or consoles her. Separately, they have more issues than National Geographic - at one point, the heroine thinks about how much counseling they will need!? THE UGLY: the narrator cannot do a sexy southern accent to save her life. She makes the hero sound like a drunk Elvis impersonator on ambien, which in case you are wondering is SO NOT ATTRACTIVE.
