Interesting but nothing new
Revisado: 08-19-24
Series had some interesting plot points, especially in the beginning, but a lot of it seemed recycled from other series. Quiteca bit was predictable. Personaly, I could have done without the religous undertones, etc. I did like that there wasn't too much gratuitous romance, sex, or nasty language.

Classic murder mystery

I loved this story. Reminds me of my younger years when Agatha Christie and JB Fletcher entertained me so thoroughly. Wonderful storytelling with a good plot and enough lightness to make the mystery fun!
Definitely going to continue with the series.

mediocre story, terrible narration
Revisado: 11-25-23
The story might have been ok, but the virtual voice narration killed all hope. The plot was full of cliché twists and overall it was just average. nothing special here.

Engaging story.
Revisado: 10-17-23
Loved the characters and the storytelling. The plot kept me guessing, and it all came together nicely. There's a lot left to explore with these characters if there is ever a sequel or series, but overall, it is a very satisfying experience. Being from a small town, I definitely recommend it. I'm looking for my next Wendy Walker book!

When Misty was six years old, her family started to live and dress like the Amish. Misty and her sister were kept as slaves on a mountain ranch where they were subjected to almost complete isolation, sexual abuse, and extreme physical violence. When Misty reached her teens, her parents feared she and her sister would escape and took them to an Amish community where they were adopted and became baptized members. Misty was devastated to once again find herself in a world of fear, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse.

Heart-wrenching and enlightening
Revisado: 06-29-23
I can not express fully how this memoir captured me. The resilience and dedication of the author is inspiring. Some aspects of her story can be triggering for survivors of abuse, but she writes in such an open, honest, and emotionally centered manner that it is an opportunity to reflect and continue to work on self healing.
All I can really say is that I appreciate her candidness and am thankful she could share this with the world. Hopefully, it opens the eyes of those with power to change things.

Revisado: 01-31-23
I listen to a lot of mysteries and thrillers. Loved the psychological play with the family dynamics. I'll admit, I knew who really did it before the reveal, but the writing was entertaining, and the crazy family kept it interesting. Will look for more from this author.
