Historia
Jax seems like a regular guy, except that he fights creatures from a strange place called the UnderVerse in his sleep, leaving him covered in horrific scars when he wakes up. The mysterious disappearance of his brother five years prior has forced Jax into a holding pattern, with a job he tolerates, a girl he kinda, sorta loves . . . until he's kidnapped and given a stark choice by his asshat of a father: Go to the UnderVerse in reality, travel to the capitol of that ruined realm at the center of reality, and open a portal for the Noble Houses to return home . . .

Drama Queen Narrator ruins the book.
Revisado: 04-12-25
The story, while not original, is solid. It would be worth reading it. However, for the audio, the narrator decides that everything needs to be said in a voice thick with emotion. While this might sound great, imagine reading about the main character sitting down for dinner and the narrator gasping the words out like bending his knees to sit were the act of a true hero risking his life and limb. I hope that gets you the picture. Not for me. I could not finish it.

Historia
Adrian was on his way to work when he was summoned to another world. A world of magic and monsters, where he finds himself more alive than he has ever been on Earth. But also, where death awaits him in any corner, and he must become stronger. But at first, before he can even fight, he has to run, because he is too weak to win a battle against even the weakest monster. And that is why he invests all of his Essence Points into his Agility. Which eventually gives him the potential to overcome almost all his enemies— with the small caveat that he does not get hit, of course. His immense speed...

Worst emotionless reading ever. I would have liked this story but the AI voice has no emotion in it.

You should skip this if you want a good reading of the book. It is not a bad story, but the AI distorts it. I could not finish it.

Historia
The end of the world had arrived just as many had predicted, in a global exchange of nuclear weapons. What no one predicted was the sudden message that appeared before every living soul moments before impact, a message from "The Administrators" revealing our entire world and everything in it to be a species simulation. According to the message, humanity had been reset over a million times and every single time we could not prevent our own extinction. No more resets for humanity. No more chances.

Everything is random
Revisado: 01-01-25
This is one of those stories where random moments of nonsense happen at pivotal moments leading to unlikely outcomes. I am not a fan of that kind of story. For example, an ex marine who’s greatest strength is his accuracy with guns can’t headshot a villain from point blank range while emptying his entire clip and the bad guy is distracted. Also, they and the bad guys keep finding things that are better than everyone else’s stuff while not having to work of it because the loot is randomly found sitting in a desk or something. That way there is no grinding and the good and bad guys can quickly become the two opposing forces of the book. The whole book is like this and is not for me.

Main character becomes an idiot
Revisado: 10-04-24
This series is okay, but over time the simple nature of the main character who shows almost no emotional or intellectual growth over multiple books gets old. It doesn’t even make sense because he has genius stats in both wisdom and intelligence. This series reads more like an average DnD campaign more than anything else. It was worth it when it was free, but I regret paying for this book to listen to a shallow whinny superhero complaining about everything while making middle school level arguments regarding good and evil. Unless you are wholesale bought into the series, this should be a skip.

Not as good as first three, but still good.
Revisado: 05-09-24
With the return home, the entire series takes a turn from the fantastical to become a sophisticated Harry Potter. I am not as big a fan of this as the first three set in a fantasy world, but it is not horrible. In this book, the audible reader has to do an American accent, which he does poorly, making all Americans sound like they have a rock in their mouth or have speech issues. Also, the book gets a bit political, taking the USA to task for its politics, but giving China and Australia among others a full pass on everything they have ever done. The author might say it is just the main character’s opinion, but the main character takes everyone to task for their failing, so excusing China’s atrocities against its own people’s and Australia’s against the aborigines is completely out of character for Jason. It makes you feel like you are hearing the author’s politics through the main character’s mouth which sucks because this isn’t a non-fiction political treatise. Outside of that, it is worth it if you liked the first three books, but it is not as good.

Out of idea so filled with boredom and random new effects.
Revisado: 12-08-23
This books marks where I give up on this series. The book moved extremely slow, but also was inconsistent with its own canon because the AI has a change. It is a slow romp through an inconsistent world. The author seems like they are out of ideas. Don’t bother.

Historia
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

A semi-complete story
Revisado: 10-16-23
This book sets up all other books in the series without much happening in this one. It is well written and definitely makes me want to pay for the other books in the series. However, it was clearly written to entice without any payoff whatsoever. It is an incomplete story, so I cannot recommend it unless you are going to commit to buying the next books in the series before you begin to read this one.

Historia
The beloved King Ik is dead, and there was barely time to check his pulse before the royal throne was supporting the suspiciously shapely backside of an impostor pretending to be Ik's beautiful, long-lost daughter. With the land's heroic hunks busy drooling all over themselves, there's only one man left who can save the kingdom of Jenair. His name is Dungar Loloth, a rural blacksmith turned innkeeper, a surly hermit, and an all-around nobody oozing toward middle age, compensating for a lack of height, looks, charm, and tact with guts and an attitude.

The Franklin Academy is the most prestigious magick school in the US, with the highest admission standards, and tuition to match. Any student would be honored to go at all, much less get a scholarship. Not Chance Fortunato. He’d much rather stay at home and study under his mentor, Dr. Corwin. But when a student is attacked and his soul is ripped from his body, Chance knows he has to stay.

Too much and not enough
Revisado: 05-23-21
There was too much information about the larger setting of the world that neither enriched the setting nor contributed to the story, and not enough story. The story is only about 60% of the book, which is not enough. I wouldn’t read it unless it was free.
