So good and with such a surprise inside.
Revisado: 03-21-21
It was great. Not exactly like an episode on TV. it's hard to picture some of the characters through the lens of Kristen's voice. Not to say her voice acting was bad, just the opposite. Story wise, it surpassed and episode. Just the same writing quality you remember, but as with any book, so much more detail and content.
Plus it has a mind blowing surprise. Some deets you're just not going to get from any of the 4 seasons of the show (at least as far as I remember). If you're on the fence, trust me, you aren't going to want to miss this.

I love SEP's books, but not a fan of the reader
Revisado: 07-08-20
Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of my favorite authors. Unfortunately, it was quite difficult
to enjoy this book due to the narrator. Her voices were okay, although her male leads voice wasn't the best. My biggest gripe is that she reads way too fast.
Hell, her pace reminds me of audio books from the cassette and cd era, where some cheapskate producer would push narrators to read way to fast just to shave off enough time to keep the number of tapes/diaks down to a minimum. It simply isn't possible to convey the emotional aspects of SEP's writing at such a quick pace.
Frankly, I hope they redo this book with another narrator. Otherwise, I don't think it will ever have a chance to compare to the others.

A wonderful surprise
Revisado: 12-27-19
I listen to an lot of books and most are okay or even good. Some are so bad I end up thinking, is the story that is terrible or the narrator. Rarely though, do I find a book that is great. Funny and sad, lively and witty, and with characters that aren't two dimensional.
This story was pretty good and the narration was great. There were so many laugh so hard the people around me think I'm nuts moments in the book. These were made all the better in how they were read. Quick, but not rushed, with great inflection.
Anyways, give it a listen, you won't be disappointed.

Was this from her early days? Wasn't up to par.
Revisado: 11-13-19
I have really enjoyed a lot of Julia Quinns books. Her other series have an assortment of supporting characters which are usually quirky to help the reader get through the slower parts of the books
I found this book was lacking in many things, especially the funny stuff. Plus the holes in the plot, ugh. 3 gunshots are exchanged in the middle of a posh neighborhood, yet nobody seems to talk about it? You'd think it would be all over town with people speculating and gossiping. Plus, how many times do the characters have impulsively do the stupidest things in life threatening situations. I kept asking myself, is this a romance novel or a cheezy horror book.
Finally, the narration is nothing compared to the reader for other series. she read everything so emphatically, like is was a play and they had to reach the back rows. I've definitely heard worse, but she just doesn't compare with the other one ( Can't remember her name).
I may listen to the last book for this series if it goes on the romance package list, but I'm not paying for it.

Good, but beware, not all a happy ending
Revisado: 02-27-19
The book was okay. Probably not as action packed as previous, but kept you listening. The BUT is though, you have to not mind one of the characters being raped. I do not like stories with that in it myself. True, the character was not a nice one and had walked herself into it, but anyone who says she deserved it are probably the ones who say a girl deserved it because of the way she was dressed. I also didn't care for how they characters acted afterwards. Basically, I almost punched a hole in a wall during that section the book. The book otherwise was well done, but just be warned in case you don't want to listen to a story with such subject matter.

Not a romance novel, rather more erotica
Revisado: 01-12-19
When the series started, I figured it was okay. The guys have that dickish arrogance I don't care for, but the writing was pretty good, story okay, good characters, and excellent narration.
Then in the book before this one, I notice a fall off in story and an up tick in sex. I like sex, but it doesn't really add to the story much when repeated overly much.
Now this book, while you can't exactly say the writing was poor, you can say it was devoid of any real story at all. Too call this book a romance novel is a fraud. It is simply an endless repetition of sex scene after sex scene.
For the first 12 hours or so, the plot to sex scene ratio was at a level so low as to compare with porn movies.
Then, when the book finally got around to a plot, the main characters didn't even take part in it all. They just kind of a summary of what happened.
This book is probably one of the single biggest disappointments in my personal reading history.
Quite simply, save yourself the pain and avoid this book at all costs. I'm not even going to attempt to see if things improve later in the series.
