Good Story, Poor Narration
Revisado: 12-02-24
First, I typically like Blake Pierce books & this was no exception. I enjoyed the story but I didn’t enjoy the narrator. The book is set in Nebraska, USA…..not England. The British narrator was a distraction that I didn’t want. It didn’t fit the story & I almost stopped listening because of it. I will definitely check to see who is the narrator before I buy another.

Historia
There is a serial killer on the loose preying on vulnerable women. The only identifiable mark the killer leaves are letters - sometimes one, sometimes two - all carved into the torsos of his victims. Together, they spell “Sydney”. When he grabs Daisy Dawson, he believes he has found his next victim. But despite her small stature, she fights back with an expertise that quickly frees her. Before fleeing the scene, Daisy also manages to grab what proves to be crucial evidence: a necklace from around the killer’s neck.

Good Story, Not So Good Narration
Revisado: 08-14-24
I found the story compelling & engaging. It is probably the longest book that I’ve listened to, but it didn’t seem long. The only issue was the narration. To me, I found it distracting at times because the voice didn’t seem appropriate for the character. But, the story was good enough to overcome the shortcomings.

Narration
Revisado: 04-19-24
The story was pretty good. There were some interesting twists. But, the robotic narration was distracting. The inflections & mispronunciation of certain words were a reminder that you didn’t have a human narrator. I will probably try to avoid this type of narration in the future.

It had the makings of a good story but you are just left hanging. I don’t mind an ambiguous ending but this was very unsatisfying. I can’t recommend this at all.

Historia
Adam Turner works the mid-dawn shift at his local radio station. From 12am to 6am, it’s his job to fill the airtime with old songs, inane chatter, and the occasional talkback caller. It’s a long way from his prime-time slot from over a decade ago, when he was a star in the making. Now there’s no producers, no billboards, no stakes, and not many listeners. His frequent callers are drunk students headed home from a night out, or long-range truck drivers. He is completely alone in the studio from midnight until dawn every night. And then one night at 12:45am, he gets a different kind of call.
