Paul Sheldon is a best-selling novelist who has finally met his number-one fan. Her name is Annie Wilkes, and she is more than a rabid reader - she is Paul's nurse, tending his shattered body after an automobile accident. But she is also furious that the author has killed off her favorite character in his latest book. Annie becomes his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house. Annie wants Paul to write a book that brings Misery back to life - just for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on.

For a decade now, the world has known of the existence of the immuno-degenerative and epidermal decomposition virus (strain two). The world governments and several civilian agencies have, so far, managed to keep the unimaginable from happening. They achieved it by keeping the outbreaks under control and preventing a global pandemic.

This was a good take on the zombie apocalypse. Some really great characters. Some HILARIOUS dialogue. Well read by the narrator also.

Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden. In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

Couldn’t stop listening
Revisado: 03-02-23
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ve re listened multiple times.
The story is interesting. It partially reminds me of the book and movie “kiss the girls”. Due to the “collecting” of young girls/women (most are between the ages of 16 to 21). Also, the fact that the main kidnapper/collector fancies himself as a gentleman and (in his twisted mind) believes he “LOVES” each victim.
This story is told between two perspectives. One is the lead inspector on the case after the young ladies have been rescued from “the garden”; as he interviews a survivor. The other is a survivor of “the gardener”, who’s being interviewed. Who tells of her time in the garden.
This is a solid good story. I would definitely recommend reading it.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Better than the movie
Revisado: 02-17-23
I had seen the movie first and liked it. Usually when you like the movie you hate the book or vice versa but I enjoyed both. I do like the book a bit better than the movie because (can be) more introspective and full of detail that a movie can. This is a interesting story, nicely written and preformed well. Even though it’s a ya book; as a non ya reader I still enjoyed it a lot.

The long walk
Revisado: 02-05-23
It’s a very interesting concept. Some partially fleshed out characters. Well performed. All in all equaling a weird story with an ambiguous ending that goes along with it.

Haunting Story
Revisado: 06-19-22
A very haunting story. Containing true suffering of the poor. Well written. Well read. As good as the book I read years ago. I enjoyed the narration. I’m glad the narrator didn’t over do it with the accent of this region that the story is sat in. I definitely will listen again.

Historia
I wasn't ready for Jacob Clark. He was sin and dark edges, wrapped in regret. He was my Kryptonite. His words oozed over me like warm honey. His dark eyes pricked my soul, and his touch.... Those fingers set my skin on fire. Of course, he was too good to be true. And before I could wipe the icing off my greedy lips, I was walking away. So, why was he invading my dreams?

Interesting
Revisado: 05-19-22
This was an interesting story. I was completely upset that in the cheating subplot the brother was expected to just get over it. The main characters were fully formed and the author did a good job of letting you know where they’re coming from with their decisions and actions. I really like the male narrator’s gravelly voice.

Historia
Shelley Anderson is trying to provide fun for her two young children when she rents the first floor of Sea View House a year after a painful divorce. The kids haven't been adjusting well, and the house is perfect. Daniel Stone, the man who's renting the top floor of the house, is trying to find his balance after losing his wife. He definitely wants to be left alone. He's less than thrilled by the instant rapport between his beautiful golden retriever and her two active kids. And he's definitely shaken by the rapport that springs up between himself and Shelley.

Love Story
Revisado: 03-27-22
I like that this book can be read and enjoyed on its own. Yet it is a part of a series. The vacation home is where “the Romeo”s play match maker for singles that fit the criteria. This story a divorced mom of two get the down stairs and a widower with a sweet dog get the upstairs of the vacation home. They have a rocky start upon first meeting. Then become friends who help each other heal from their trauma. Then they become lovers. Then they fall in love. It’s a cute “love story”.
