This is the story of the south seas and it’s inhabitants when the mutineers of the bounty arrive on a remote island and make it their own. The ups and downs of human behavior resulting in the good for all. This was an enjoyable story and filled with the truth of how humans choose to live with each other in harmony and disharmony. I enjoyed the story and the philosophy behind it. I think it was a story with a hopeful ending with the elements that can make community decisions. Thrive.

Lots of sex and philosophic truth

I really liked Linda Lavid’s style of writing. She painted pictures in my mind that were vivid and familiar. The sex scenes were tasteful and memorable. I was especially pleased to find myself in deep thoughts about my belief system and how women in our culture are taught to be critical of themselves for sexual acts that men on the other hand, praise themselves for. This Novella inspired me to think deeply about the differences in values that men and women have in my world and how I have a strong need to redefine my opinion of myself and what I believe about sex, marriage, and self image. I look forward to reading more of what Linda Lavid has written.

One of the best books I’ve ever read

Adventure, romance, diverse, cultures, compassion, and unusual relationships. This book is a fantastic read, and I could hardly put it down. The plot moves along quickly, and has many twists and turns that are not predictable. I would recommend this book highly.

A pure delight of western adventure

The detailed story of the western frontier was full of adventure as the Virginian lived his early life as a cowboy and courted a schoolmarm from Vermont. Both of them finding their way in the new territory with romance and intrigue. I enjoyed every bit of the descriptive and unique style of the writing. I ,also , enjoyed the descriptions of the landscape and the authentic characters of the old west. It was far more authentic than the movies and series we see today.

An epic worth reading

Spanning decades of time and worldwide cultures, this book brought me such great pleasure. I am reading it again. It was a heartwarming story, as well as an education into multi cultures and philosophical exploration. This book can be considered a love story of humans, animals, plants, and a whole of creation.

Shallow. Unbelievable, characters.

I was drawn to the up-to-date background of this book. I was so disappointed in the ending. Some of the behavior of the characters seemed incongruent. I was literally depressed at the end of the story.
