Should have been 10 minutes - just an Infomercial!
Revisado: 11-01-22
The summary of this book made me feel like she would actually give ways of applying neuroplasticity exercises to my life and therefore make it useful to me. There's not a single instance of that in this book. It is literally just story after story of this kid couldn't do math or some other subject and after doing my program they were awesome. That sums up the entire book.
it's kind of like buying what you thought was a cookbook and you read the whole thing and realize all it did was show you pictures of amazing meals and describe how good they were but never gave you the recipes of how to cook them.
Incredibly Disappointed!!!
The only people who would get anything out of this book is anyone who had never heard of neuroplasticity and then all they're going to get is that they now know it exists.
I wish I had my time back.

Long commercial for his company and repetitive
Revisado: 09-01-22
I usually love these types of books but the last quarter of the actual book is nothing but a tedious boring long commercial for his corporate training company. You're begging for this book to end!!
When you finally think it's over there is a long interview that is nothing more than repetition from the actual book itself.
When that mercifully ends and you think it's over again there is another story which is kind of new but not really. It felt like the interview and the extra story at the end was to make it long enough to be a real book and not a pamphlet.
The first three quarters of the actual book are completely awesome but the rest of it ruins the entire book. The first three quarters of the actual book is why I gave it two stars instead of one.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVEN FOR FREE BECAUSE IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME, MUCH BETTER BOOKS OUT THERE!!!

Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

Overrated
Revisado: 02-21-22
I have heard of this book for years and have heard nothing but amazing things about it. However now that I have listened to it I feel it was greatly overrated. It could be though that at the time it came out, it is 15 years old now, it was groundbreaking. I think books like Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers completely blow this one out of the water but I also feel like Outliers was probably spawned somewhat from this book. It was worth a listen but probably not worth a credit.

Complete waste of time
Revisado: 01-25-22
I have no idea why anyone thought this book was good enough to turn into a series. I was interested in the concept but found it very hard to follow because he was so overt in having the Asian characters speak in overly stereotypical sentence structure.
Also, the ending was completely beyond worthless. Maybe I'm just not intelligent enough to follow the story and enjoy it but it truly was a complete waste of my time.

Historia
Joe De Sena has spent his life running toward challenge and discomfort. Why? Because how we react to challenging situations defines us and our families. The only tools we have as humans to survive the many peaks and valleys of a full life are preparedness, health, leadership, and most importantly, resilience. Why do so many parents struggle to finish things we start, delay gratification, and protect our health - and why do our kids continue to struggle in every facet of life? Because we haven’t showed them a path to resilience, and we haven’t fought for it ourselves.

Everyone needs to hear this message!
Revisado: 01-21-22
This wouldn't just help you raise a good family and tough kids, this would help fix America if we would live with this attitude.
I am constantly having people ask me how we raised such good kids and we used a lot of the same concepts raising my teenage boys. I have yet to have a single parent who actually listens to anything I tell them. I get one or two steps into the process and they cut me off and tell me that they don't have that philosophy or ideas about parenting and they don't feel it's good for their kids psyche and at the same time their kids are across the room screaming and breaking things. I just shut up and let them continue to be wrong.
Great job Joe!!!

Historia
It was supposed to be an easy job: find the Dark Star Revolution Starships, destroy them, and go home. But a booby-trapped vessel decimates the Meridian Alliance fleet, leaving Serengeti - a Valkyrie class warship with a sentient AI brain - on her own, wrecked and abandoned in an empty expanse of space. On the edge of total failure, Serengeti thinks only of her crew. She herds the survivors into a lifeboat, intending to sling them into space. But the escape pod sticks in her belly, locking the cryogenically frozen crew inside.

There wasn't really a story here. Completely worthless and maybe the most boring sci-fi story I've ever read or listened to in my entire life.
I feel like the author owes me money for having listened to it.

Money grab and waste of time.

I kind of liked the first book because it was a really interesting concept. Thought I would see where he went with this one but was very unimpressed.

Decent info but a little heavy on kids content
Revisado: 03-24-21
I thought this book had a lot of great content in it but about a third of it was devoted to kids. I would have preferred that it was fully focused on the person reading it because if they do a good job with the content they will apply the information in ways that help their kids as well.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
Revisado: 03-22-21
This book is a complete waste of time. About 25% of it was entertaining and the rest was philosophical horse crap.
There's no way this book would have ever even been published if he had not already had such a huge hit with the book Dune which was an absolute masterpiece!
Do not waste your time or money.

At least it was short
Revisado: 03-08-21
The first thing to mention is that they spend a huge chunk of time at the beginning of the book listing all the people they're going to tell you about later. Completely worthless and feels like it was put in just to lengthen the book.
It has a few decent ideas but none of them are really profound and new.
Basically there are thousands of better books out there to spend your time on.
At least it was short.
