Space Westerns! I love 'em
Revisado: 03-21-25
The story was great, and the interaction between the characters was hilarious at times. I'm looking forward to listening to more in this series.
That being said, I do have to add that the narrator has a bad habit of inhaling audibly, constantly. It sounds like a gasp, and it is constant. It's not for dramatic effect either. It doesn't matter what the words are, or what the tone is, or even if it's description or dialog.
Blah blah description description. ::gasp:: .blah, blah, description description.
or
"dialogue dialogue." ::gasp:: so and so said.
And it didn't matter if they were being angry, or snarky, or just simply talking about the weather.
It got old quick. But, the story was good.

Villains aren't born, they're made. Witt was an ordinary NPC - a non-player character in a video game. As a kobold skald, he sang songs to empower heroes before they entered the local dungeons. Every day was a fresh start. Every day Witt woke with no memory of his previous encounters with all those so-called heroes. And every day he forgot the countless beatings and deaths he took at the hands of the murder hobos he valiantly buffed. But when all of those memories suddenly come flooding back, he only wants one thing: Revenge.

A fun read
Revisado: 03-18-25
This book was great. light hearted for the most part, and funny. I'm an avid player of a couple popular MMORPGs, and the world the author ceeated had just enough similarities to be recognizable as an MMORPG, while still being it's own unique game.
The level of disrespect flung at the NPCs was both believable and comical. Uh
..I mean, so I've heard...I'd never mistreat an NPC ::halo::
The way he became self aware, and then him creating his plan was great.
I can't think of any plot holes.
The narrator did a great job, too. There are some narrators who I can't listen to, their voice, their pacing, just bothers me, but not this one. He did a good job, and I wish him a long amd happy career.

Amazing story
Revisado: 03-03-25
If this was the debut novel, we are in for a phenomenal series.
The characters were believable, the world building was amazing, and the story arch was incredible.
That being said, I would strongly suggest finding a different narrator. He sounded like the type of reader who could win awards for reading newspaper articles. Also, and I don't know if this was the way he was taught, or ifhe has a speech impediment, but the way he reads, if a word ends with the letter "D"he pronounces it as if it's a "T" so for example, the word "ground" was pronounced "grount" and the word blade, was pronounced "blate."
If you're able to look beyond that, you will enjoy this book.

I liked the concept, and the believability of the characters, especially the teenage daughter.
The only thing I would change is the narration, I didn't like how AI read it.

During the height of World War 2, a young German soldier on the Russian front is unexpectedly killed moments after committing a heinous and unforgivable crime. After his soul is hurled through the aether, he finds himself surrounded by blinding light and standing before God to explain his actions and face judgement. In this powerful WW2 Christian historical fiction, instead of condemning the young man’s soul, God mysteriously sends him back to earth to relive the moment until he can change the outcome and come to understand the nature of truth and evil.

The topic of this story is a difficult one to read, but it is an extremely important one, and it was written extremely well. If all of his stories are written this well, I will definitely listen to them.

The voice actor needs a little bit more coaching
Revisado: 02-20-24
It was a fun read, and a wild ride, but one thing I couldn't get over was that most of the tasks were non-repeatable. For example, one was finding an returning a harp. But that's the exact same task the previous Djed had to do. I did like her little "swear" monkey butt. When I was a kid, we would come up with some funny ones, we called them veggie-swears. All in all, I enjoyed it, and I will be reading the others.

incredible story telling, just like I have come to expect from Connelly. Bravo.
Also, Titus Welliver was a perfect match for the TV series as Bosch, and I am greatly impressed with his narration work. On a personal side note, as a Masshole, I find his accent of a Bostonian to be absolutely spot on; an extremely rare ability.
Buy this book. Buy all of them. And Mr. Welliver, please do everything in your power to continue as Bosch, as well as continue your career as a narrator for books. There aren't nearly enough of readers like you.

over actor's anonymous
Revisado: 07-27-21
There are two main problems I have about the story itself. One is that it seemed that in a couple of places there was what I call 'manufacturers drama' which is when a writer chooses how a character will react specifically because they want to add drama where there possibly would not have been had the character reacted the way that character would have organically reacted.
The second thing was the fighting. It seemed to me that the fighting was written by someone who knows next to nothing about martial arts of any kind. The Jedi are fighting against pirates. Pirates were, and are, people with no real training whatsoever. They grab a stick and swing it; that's the extent of their training. meanwhile, the Jedi, beings who spend their entire lives training in both diplomacy and combat, are an even match, but only so long as they are able to hold onto their light sabers.
Moving in to the narrator: He is an overachiever at the Captain James T Kirk school for over acting. There were times when it was laughable at best, and other times when I couldn't even hear what he was saying because he was talking so quietly. I could only listen to him for a couple of hours a day, and then I just had to turn it off and listen to something else.
