It has been twenty-seven long years since the last sunrise. For nearly three decades, vampires have waged war against humanity; building their eternal empire even as they tear down our own. Now, only a few tiny sparks of light endure in a sea of darkness.

OMG!!! Phenomenal
Revisado: 03-20-22
I’m without words….Kristoff has surely out done himself with this one. I loved the Nevernight series immensely, but the story here is poised to exceed that one beyond reason. Great redeemer I cannot wait for the next story of the silver saint.

Can I get the rest of the series...NOW??
Revisado: 03-27-17
What made the experience of listening to The Song Rising the most enjoyable?
1. I found the 1st book on chance...which is now clearly fate. While I typically prefer to read my books, my work doesn't always afford me that luxury so audible has satiated that need for me. 2. I am convinced Collins was intended to be the voice of Paige our Pale Dreamer & Black Moth & has made this series even more so engaging. 3. Amazing Series, phenomenal author & perfect narrator!!!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Song Rising?
Really....way too may to list & honestly do yourself a favor....indulge yourself in this story you will only regret that you have to wait for the rest of the series!!!
What does Alana Kerr Collins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She brings the unique terminology, dialogue & characters to life and allows you to easily acclimate to the story without your full understanding of the world that is being constructed before your eyes.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Um YES...and I only did not because I knew that the next installment isn't even close to being released.
Any additional comments?
Ms. Shannon...you are amazing....please give us MORE of this world, because while I am desperate for the next few, I admit I don't want it to end....7 might not be enough!!!!

Cliffhanger....
Revisado: 03-15-17
Found this little gem while trolling Amazon & audible for an kindle unlimited audiobook. The reviews don't give credit to the author & story, take the story for what it is & enjoy it. Much of the confusion is likely due to the translation of the book to English & I agree it doesn't come off with the typical European flair that one would typically expect, but I enjoyed it none the less. I have definitely encountered much more inappropriate & unbelievable love matches and while there were times I wish she would move on with it, I really just wanted them to be together so the story would carry on. Alas, I am left with a cliffhanger which I cannot in good faith leave unknown.

Not you cookie cutter series
Revisado: 03-07-17
Don't bother to read or finish this series if you are expecting it to be delivered in a pretty little box....BUT if you are willing to appreciate the decision of the author to break the mold & not take it out on her by giving a bad review bc you didn't get your "unrealistic" happily ever after...then this series is for you!

Intriguing story & good narrator...looking forward to the rest of the series
Revisado: 02-16-17
While I read several reviews stating that there was too much fluff & useless information about the setting & backstory, I tend to disagree with this statement. However, I believe if I had read this as opposed to listen to it via audible I think I would have agreed. But for an audio book I think this helps in building the world & setting; the readers accent lended to the dialect of protagonist. The narrative is your typical dystopian fantasy, but diverts from your traditional cast of paranormal characters & weak/love lorn teen angst....well worth the read (listen)!

Historia
When Silla and Nori arrive at their aunt's home, it's immediately clear that the "blood manor" is cursed. The creaking of the house and the stillness of the woods surrounding them would be enough of a sign, but there are secrets, too - the questions that Silla can't ignore: Who is the beautiful boy who's appeared from the woods? Who is the man her little sister sees, but no one else? And why does it seem that ever since they arrived, the trees have been creeping closer?

Not usually a scary/horror book fan but the cover & audio snippet convinced me otherwise! Takes a little to get into the flow of the story, but the narrator does a great job & it really makes it much better than if I had read it myself!
