Loved the narrator, and the story was good!

The narrator really made the story come alive. Also, the fact that some of it was acted out with accompanying sound effects was particularly good. Murder mysteries are not usually my thing but tucks one was a good surprise!!

Not For Me

I anticipated liking this book, but it plodded along so slowly that I eventually gave up. The author started out with an over-presented thesis as if his audience were made dullards. Finally, he bragged about his medical career, thinly veiled as instructive. Oh, well. Another credit is down the drain.

It might have been a little better to be more expedient and somehow I think a reader with a foreign accent would seem more believable given that the main character in the story was born in India, (I think) and lived overseas. That being said, the voice actor was very precise in his diction and delivery, but would have been better for a different book.

The Novel is Horrifyingly Realistic

Part memoir and partly a novel, the story is compellingly realistic. The narrator is exceptional in her delivery making it hard to realize she isn't the actual first person voice. The writer navigates the telling of her story with beautiful turns of phrase and elaborate detail. Simply stated, she talks pretty, even while speaking the ugly truth.

Fun to Hear

It was fun to hear Dolly explain things in her own words and to get a feel for her personality and sense of humor. it was a pleasure from beginning to the end. Funny that every single song was her "best ever" or "most favorite of alnol" and so on!

The author can sure turn an ordinary thought into a gleaming beautiful sentence. I admire his words and phraseology and am impressed with the way he can stretch a topic to its breaking point. That being said, I think the book was longer than it needed be.

I've read several FBI tactics books and loved them. This one stretches the same techniques into the social realm. I loved the narrator's voice and precise diction. An all around good book!

This book explained a lot. Nicely narrated and very listenable. I wish I knew some of these things as my parents were ageing and becoming quite puzzling.
