The AI voice was better than most but struggled with years & weapons calibers, but the story itself was enjoyable

Historia
For the past twenty-five years, Margaret Atwood has written works of striking originality and imagination. In The Blind Assassin, she stretches the limits of her accomplishments as never before, creating a novel that is entertaining and profoundly serious. The novel opens with these simple, resonant words: "Ten days after the war ended, my sister drove a car off the bridge." They are spoken by Iris, whose terse account of her sister Laura's death in 1945 is followed by an inquest report proclaiming the death accidental.

Sound quality not the narrator’s fault!
Revisado: 02-13-22
The story within a story within a story is expertly written (& no, I did NOT stammer!) & likely narrated; however, as others have noted, something happened in the production process to detract from the sound quality. The period descriptions were highly detailed & as my own grandmother described. The story is a worthwhile listen, although I don’t suggest headphones or any high quality speakers. Take a chance on this & become absorbed in the myriad & overlapping plot lines. Cheers!

Historia
An ongoing, episodic "prose comic" from which the pictures are summoned by the magic of words, Goon Squad is set in an alternate version of modern-day Manchester. Its biggest divergence from the real city is that it - along with most other large urban centers - has a team of superheroes to protect it against unusual threats with which the conventional forces of law and order would have problems. Goon Squad: Year One offers three action-packed volumes in a single collection.

Lighthearted Superhero Story
Revisado: 04-26-21
A thoroughly enjoyable series—with lots of great sci-fi references that’ll whiz past you, if you’re not paying attention!
Minor: I could’ve gone for fewer changing voices/characters & either stayed with Mdme de Cuir reading male character lines, or, the male voice actors reading those lines. Having the voice actors swap back & forth between these aural techniques was a distraction & would break the rhythm of the storyline for me=minus one star on the performance.
Perfect & engaging story for my long driving trips; I’ve already downloaded the other titles in this series, so please, Msr Howard—keep releasing more chapters! I’d love to hear how the team “ages” & matures… how about Gilbert getting married—OR, *Iain?!* there are so many possibilities! Thank you, Msr Howard!!

Historia
Before she was a trauma cleaner, Sandra Pankhurst was many things: husband and father, drag queen, gender reassignment patient, sex worker, small businesswoman, trophy wife... but as a little boy, raised in violence and excluded from the family home, she just wanted to belong. Now she believes her clients deserve no less. A man who bled quietly to death in his living room. Sarah Krasnostein has watched the extraordinary Sandra Pankhurst bring order and care to these, the living and the dead - and the book she has written is equally extraordinary.

I won’t ruin the story w/details; however, this was not only the audible book I was interested in listening on a road trip, it ended up being the book I needed to HEAR—lots of great life lessons!!

Historia
More than a year after she helped save the world from the Sparnaxian invasion, Andrea Vernon is in a good place. Her boss is giving her greater responsibility and she’s getting to travel a lot (although her fill-in is hopeless at making coffee); things could be getting even more serious with her 8’ 4” superhero boyfriend, The Big Axe; and she has a really fun new BFF, Never More. Small issue, though, with that last item - Never More is a supervillain bent on world domination, and it looks as if nothing can stop her.

Alexander: PLEASE continue the series!!
Revisado: 10-20-20
Alexander Kane *clearly* knows how to write a humorous AND action-packed series!! The timing of the humor was (both short, rapid-fire dings, as well as series-long jokes) well balanced against the plot action & character development.
I firmly believe there’s a little, “Executive Assistant Andrea Vernon,” in all of us, lol! A VERY enjoyable & engaging series to listen to on my road trip, except I didn’t want to get out of the car & stop hearing the rest of the story.
Again, I’d LOVE to hear more about CUP, new Superheroes, their foes—governmental, company organization, & of course, the villains—& there’s SO MUCH fertile material here!

Andrea Vernon always thought she would spend her life living in Paris writing thought-provoking historical novels all day and sipping wine on the Seine all night. But the reality is she's drowning in debt, has no prospects, and is forced to move back to Queens, where her parents remind her daily that they are very interested in grandchildren. Then, one morning, she is kidnapped, interviewed, and hired as an administrative assistant by the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection. Superheroes for hire, using their powers for good. What could possibly go wrong?

Historia
The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women is a fairly typical all-girls school - that is, it would be if every school taught advanced martial arts in PE and the latest in chemical warfare in science, and students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class. The Gallagher Academy might claim to be a school for geniuses, but it's really a school for spies.

Teenage cuteness
Revisado: 06-14-19
This story is a little light on intensity of characters & the plot is formulaic at times; HOWEVER, that doesn’t take away the fun of listening to it or appreciating the creativity of the “teenage spy” setting. I downloaded the prequel on a whim before a road trip & at the first stop downloaded the entire series. It’s absolutely perfect to listen to on a long ride & even with my teenage son in the car—he didn’t want to admit he enjoyed it, too!

Historia
With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Fascinating & true!
Revisado: 05-23-18
Before listening to his memoir, I’d say I was a casual observer of Alan Cumming’s work—surprised when he popped up in something I watched & I’d always google him, then nod to myself (“oh YEAH, he’s that guy!), impressed with how he’s able to morph into very different characters so deftly. After listening to his memoir (& BTW, I listened almost non-stop on a business trip!) I’m definitely a fan! This memoir is well written, I loved the forward & back storytelling technique, as it put his life’s experiences into perspective & CLEARLY, he’s done a lot of hard work to stay grounded & happy! Fantastic listen, it will draw you in from the opening chapter. It’s also great to hear Alan narrate this himself, as one can tell he’s purely open & willing to tell us if his struggles honestly—he’s a rare breed indeed, just buy this audible selection, trust me…
