Powerhouse of knowledge in a tight little package! Wonderful job explaining the complicated circumstances that define and encompass the lived experiences of Black folk in America.

When I drive through and around Richmond, I will see the city as if a veil was lifted. The facts around Richmond’s role in slavery are horrific and compelling all at once. And for me, hearing the familiar names of locations and the surnames of folks I know and heard as I was growing up was profoundly moving.

The journeys of these characters are profoundly moving. Life is not easy for either woman but for very different reasons. Love and loss shapes their lives in unexpected ways. An absolute must read!

Mental illness devastates in ways you can’t imagine. This story captures the struggle from the perspective of those who are most impacted. So real

So many compelling lives that have led to where we as Black women stand today. I see the world differently because of this book. I walk a little taller and see my sisters as hero’s even when they can’t see it themselves. Thank you Daina and Kali for telling our story in such a powerful and poignant way. A must read for all!
