Historia
Machen's classic defense of orthodox Christianity established the importance of scriptural doctrine and contrasts the teachings of liberalism and orthodoxy on God and man, the Bible, Christ, salvation, and the church. Though originally published nearly seventy years ago, the book maintains its relevance today. It was named one of the top 100 books of the millennium by World magazine and one of the top 100 books of the century by Christianity Today.

Contending for the Gospel!
Revisado: 02-12-24
The most striking feature to me is that this was written 100 years ago and is as piercing and relevant for today as it was then. I appreciated what felt like dozens of nuances and examples. Much needed book for the church today and in the future.

Great Ideas to Implement in Family Discipleship
Revisado: 02-05-24
This book felt like being invited into his home, and being discipled in very ordinary moments by very ordinary means. Great truth, great stories. I enjoyed the structure of the book, flowing from waking bedtime in one day, The age chart at the very end is an outstanding idea! While I love playing with my kids, I still sense it’s a modern idea of“ faithful parenting” that I don’t see in scripture, nor experienced from my loving parents. Excellent resource overall!

A Concise & Compelling Help for Maturing in Prayer
Revisado: 01-19-24
I appreciated Halloran’s book for many reasons. It touched on nearly every hindrance with biblical truth, practical helps, and pastoral sensitivity. Good examples. Humble approach. Clear sentences. It moved me to deeper self-reflection and more earnest petition. I would unhesitatingly recommend this resource to those in our church family as an accessible and profitable help in growing in prayer.

I enjoyed the characters and the development of the plot throughout the story. The readers were fantastic. Felt like I was in South Africa at times! It makes me want to read/listen to more of Agatha Christie’s mysteries.

Historia
Many people are curious about the second coming of Christ—what it will be like, when it will happen, and what signs will come first. In his latest book, Come, Lord Jesus, John Piper addresses all these issues, but stresses that those who love the second coming of Christ will receive a crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:6–8). Piper examines key biblical texts around the second coming while encouraging listeners toward a Spirit-awakened affection for Jesus's return.

A Tapestry Texts that Aid Love for Christ’s Apoearing
Revisado: 01-08-24
Piper is good. Pure and simple. I appreciate the meditations, as well as many of the conclusions, though, I would have loved a text that engaged arguments and perspectives more thoroughly. Regardless, it led me to long for Christ’s appearing even more. For that, it was worth it!

Historia
Thomas Jefferson was arguably the most brilliant and inspiring political writer in American history. But the ethical realities of his personal life and political career did not live up to his soaring rhetoric. Indeed, three tensions defined Jefferson’s moral life: democracy versus slavery, republican virtue versus dissolute consumption, and veneration for Jesus versus skepticism about Christianity. In this book, Thomas S. Kidd tells the story of Jefferson’s ethical life through the lens of these tensions.
