Ilea likes punching things. And eating. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially—a fate worse than death.

I love this story!
Revisado: 01-06-23
I understand my bias in favor of the narrator generally as I've loved a lot of the books she's narrated. This story is excellent and one of the best long form books I've listened to in a long time. I really prefer 20 hour and longer books presuming it's not just full of fluff and filler and this story delivers very well. As usual when I find a new author I've not read before that has a really good story right out of the gate I'm anxious for the next book and the next and so on. I really hope this story and the audio books continue in quick succession.

Historia
Twenty years ago, his father saved the world. Or so the history books will probably say once someone gets around to writing them. All Mihalis knows is the world he has been raised into. It's not a bad world, as things ago, he has a big and loving family, but there is the ongoing "war" that promises to be on-going for a good many years to come. Raised to the blade by his mother, and taught not only her ways as well as a good many of the ways of her people, but also the ways of his father's other wives, as well as the ways of his magic, Mihalis has had a very thorough education.

Revisado: 11-06-22
I loved this book. I have not read any of the other series this author has written so I went into this one cold and was very happy to purchase and listen to the next couple in the series as well. I've seen complaints about the narrator difference compared to his other series in this world and while they prefer the narrator they are used to I found nothing to complain about the narration here. It was solid and easy to listen to. I do plan to purchase the rest of this series as it comes out and eventually pick up the books in his other series to see where the origins of this universe started.

Solid first novel to start a series. Keep it up.
Revisado: 11-06-22
I'll admit I bought this book out of curiosity to see if he inherited similar talent from his father for building stories I enjoy. I was NOT disappointed at anything with this book. It's as good a first book as I've seen from any new author. I'm confident I should enjoy future installments of this series and will like watching his writing abilities grow with experience. I'm also interested to see if he will become as prolific a writer as his father has been at times (waiting years between book is not my favorite experience).
The narrator was new to me as well but put in a solid performance judging by his own merits in this production. Unlike other's criticisms I don't expect every narrator to be to have wildly unique voices to draw on for characters. There was enough variation for me to enjoy the story and not get confused in who's point of view was being presented but of course part of that is the job of the author too. Would I have loved Marsters or one of my other favorite narrators to voice this book? Sure, who wouldn't? Cronin does an excellent job here though in my opinion and I will go looking for him voicing other books to see if he's done any more books that catch my interest.

Historia
Roland Stang never intended to become the caretaker of 30 abandoned children. He was just looking for a place to get out of the rain. His plan was to lay low and allow the world to reset itself after a worldwide economic collapse. But things do change. An orphan himself from an early age, the former soldier can't simply walk away and leave the children he finds. Leading a handful of teens and a busload of orphaned children, Roland sets out to find a safe haven for them. Along the way, he'll make friends, enemies, and the odd mistake or two. Or more.

Revisado: 09-15-22
I really enjoyed this story by NC Reed. It's the second title by the author (Odd Billy Todd being the first and was also excellent) that I've listened to and expected it to be good and it was no disappointment. I might have preferred this tale to stretch out into a small series but that's only a selfish desire of mine to keep a good story going by a good author.

Historia
Phoebe, the soulless child, has been raised by her adoptive father, Eric—the universe-hopping vampire wizard from the future. After all, who better to raise a soulless infant than an undead monster? He did his best to raise her right. He made certain she was well-educated. He picked a reasonably decent culture for her to grow up in. He trained her in her powers, taught her everything he could, and even broadened her horizons by touring other worlds, other times, other histories—and some futures!

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

I come to this with the prejudice that I've loved every entry of Butcher's Dresden series. This story was no different, I loved it. Yes, I miss James Marsters narration of established characters but as usual (Ghost Story) I got over myself and enjoyed Jim's narration too. I absolutely loved the bloopers that were included at the end too, that would be something cool to include in any future books too.

Historia
Alvin and his wives had been busy over the last few weeks. They’d gone out of their way to visit settlements they’d helped in the past, all while killing a string of mini-bosses across what had been the American west. Life looked good for Team Asshole…until the devs made a mistake. Without any warning, Sammi stopped showing up. At first, they brushed it off as her being too busy, or maybe in trouble. That changed when a new dev showed up and tried to assert his dominance.

Another excellent listen in the series.
Revisado: 04-28-22
I openly admit my favorable bias for the author's work and as well as the narrator. This series was my introduction to the genre and have purchased most of Schinhofen's books available on Audible. The narration was superb as I've come to expect from Irondale no matter the author. I'm somewhat saddened to find that this appears to be the last of the series because I've enjoyed them all as well as the overall premise of the series. Perhaps a later spinoff series can be developed to push into other areas of the world that has been created.

Bought series as this omnibus. This is the first I've purchased by this author and narrators. I loved the originality, subject and flow of the story. I will purchase more by the author and narrators in the future. The only quibble I have for this series is debatable. I could do with a little less repetition in the stats recital at various points but that's pretty minor as far as critique. I will enjoy listening to this series several times over the coming years.
