A twist at the end but not a satisfactory ending
Revisado: 04-16-23
I kept thinking it would get better so I kept reading a little more and a little more. But I wasted my time. The author was trying for a shocking ending but instead it was disappointing. I can't recommend this book.

BORING
Revisado: 08-10-22
I kept thinking it would improve so I made it to the ninth chapter. A lot of the book is about his life and memories of his childhood. I got tired of hearing about horse excrement, pig excrement artificial insemination of a horse and stories which he must think are funny. His memories are neither funny not interesting. If he thinks he is another Paul Harvey, he is way off the mark.

This book takes us behind the scenes of the Sherlock Holmes series starting Jeremy Brett. The how and why of Jeremy's interpretation of the great detective is explained as well as amusing stories of the filming by the cast members. The narration is excellent and I will look for other books narrated by Like Barton. I highly recommend this book.

Enjoyable and informative from beginning to end.
Revisado: 04-12-22
The narrator (and author) does a great job to make this an easy listening experience. I will look for any other books in Audible that he has written. The content was fascinating and I especially enjoyed the humor that he included. He tells us about spies from ancient times up thru the present and how history has been changed because of their actions. I highly recommend this book with a caution. I think this book is most enjoyable for readers who find espionage and spying interesting.

Ho, hum, this put me to sleep.
Revisado: 10-11-21
As the book begins, there were interesting facts included about the French Revolution and Madam Clicquot's childhood and I enjoyed the story. But as the book unfolded, boredom set in and I was struggling to see my way clear to finish it. After 3 hours I gave up. The many details of making champagne are repeated over and over and the book just doesn't move forward.

I have read many books about Eisenhower but this one stands above the others. I learned so many new facts about Ike. I believe the author does a good job of trying to present both sides of events and I felt like I was reading an unbiased account of the man, the general and the president. The reader was excellent and easy to listen to throughout the book. I highly recommend it.

Revisado: 05-19-20
I enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. The characters are truly authentic and easy to identify with in this fast paced thriller. I felt an undercurrent of anxiety as I read the story because the author keeps hinting something is about to happen. The reader did an excellent job and I will definitely look for other books he has read. This book was so enjoyable and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to get lost in a well written novel of suspense.

One of our best-loved actors, Michael Caine has starred in over 100 films in his six-decade career, spanning classic movies like Alfie, Zulu, and The Italian Job (the inspiration for the book title) to playing Alfred opposite Christian Bale's Batman in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Dark Knight trilogy. Caine has excelled in every kind of role - with a skill that's made it look easy. As he says, "Small parts can lead to big things. And if you keep doing things right, the stars will align when you least expect it."

Revisado: 01-02-19
One of my favorite biographies that I have ever read. Michael Caine's honesty is so refreshing. Listening to this book was like sitting down with Michael and having a personal conversation. He is such a warm and funny person. He is unaffected by his fame and he does not have the typical Hollywood movie star attitude. He shares some wonderfully profound experiences and looks at life so positively. A great read and I whole heartedly recommend it.

A must read for dog lovers
Revisado: 03-21-18
This book goes way beyond just another dog story. The author shares how the difficult challenges of training her dog help her heal from years of hidden conflict which she has chosen to ignore. Lots of wisdom here.......not only about training dogs with problems but also about letting dogs teach us about ourselves. Loved it !
