Unique take on love at first sight

First off, the narration was super strange and hard to get used to. In Jeremiah’s chapters, the narration by Tim Paige sounds like AI - wooden and one dimensional. Cameron’s chapters were read by Tristan James, who I love - lovely, natural sounding voice modulation, making Jeremiah’s voice all the more frustrating to hear.

Other than that, I liked the story. There’s a lot of character depth and an arc in spite of the premature love at first sight trope. Worth listening to in spite of the confusing narration.

Stepbrothers obsessed with each other

The concept wasn’t bad, but there was so little depth to the storyline. Constant thought dialogue and weird behavior that went on and on til it was tedious. The characters were clearly into each other with absolutely no self-awareness about it. What college boy routinely sits on his stepbrother’s lap and thinks nothing of it? Also, their relationship developed as a sexual one with too little attention given to their friendship other than to acknowledge that it existed.

I finished it bc I paid for it, and the narration was good. But it was a tedious read.

Sweet, fresh storyline.

Terrible narration, reasonably enjoyable series progression.

First off, I’d warn anyone off this series solely on the quality of the narrator. The voice would be fine if he didn’t deliver the entire series - and I mean the ENTIRE text — in a kind of bad anchorman-delivering-the-news tone and volume. It’s almost as if he’s shouting or super-emphasizing every last word. Drove me crazy!

The saving grace is that the stories are pretty cute with an interesting progression through the roommates. Some characters are annoying, but that’s to be expected, and we do see character growth throughout the series.

If the publisher got a new (better) narrator and re-released, this would be worth the credit. As it is, it is not.

Unnecessary cliffhanger

I love a shifter romance and this one was entertaining. A bit long and convoluted, but cute. However, I won’t be reading the sequel - another 10 hours of the same twists and turns is too much.

Nothing to dislike about this one. I will be pursuing this author for - hopefully - more good reads. Story is rich and nuanced, smart and satisfying. Narration was perfect. A surprising gem for free in Audible’s Plus catalog. May not stay there for long!

Worst book ever. Complete waste.

I am flabbergasted this book has so many positive reviews and that the author was able to pull in Teddy Hamilton to narrate. Most ridiculous book ever - I have to wonder if Misha Bell is a pseudonym for an AI ghostwriter.

I understand it’s supposed to be a romcom, but this is stupid humor at its worst. I was honestly offended throughout and finally just let myself doze off to the sound of Teddy’s velvety smooth voice, which is the audiobook’s only redeeming quality. I marked down stars for his performance to 3 only for poor judgment in taking on this book as a project.

Good writing, great narration

Sweet story and great characters. Ending was rather too drawn out and predictable. The career shift felt abrupt and unsatisfying at the end. Good narrator! Enjoyable listen.

Held me spellbound

Listened to this in one sitting while home sick. I could not put it down. One of CRH’s best. Such a layered story with so much to reveal about coping in a country and a world that has become so crazy and scary. Though the circumstances in the story are extreme, I think any reader of a certain age has experiences that might feel similarly extreme in one way or another. That’s how CRH has woven the story; we can empathize because in some way it’s our own story.
