Narration and plot
Revisado: 12-13-23
Excellent narration and he had a great script to work from. The author knows how to keep you guessing and then be completely surprised with a great twist at the end.

Historia
When an Italian assassin's body is found floating in a barrel in Victorian London's East End, enquiry agent Cyrus Barker and his assistant Thomas Llewelyn are called in to investigate. Soon corpses begin to appear all over London, each accompanied by a Mafia Black Hand note. As Barker and Llewelyn dig deeper, they become entangled in the vendettas of rival Italian syndicates - and it is no longer clear who is a friend or foe.

Difficult to follow because of the narration
Revisado: 06-21-22
I tried. It was very difficult to know who was talking which disrupted the flow of the story. Most of the voices were too similar even though they had accents but the accents were, well just okay. The French accents were good and I only knew it was Blake talking when the story said it was him speaking. Otherwise, i had to continually ask who was talking when names weren’t used. Really, I tried to stick to listening but gave up. It may have had a good storyline but it was too much of a struggle figuring out who was saying what to listen.

Narrator excellent; not what I expected, but decent
Revisado: 04-19-18
I have never been into this type of story line and I frequently considered returning it. Make sure you like this theme before purchasing. I did, however, finish the book and it was well written and narrated. Just regretted spending my credit on the book only because of the story itself. Although, as I reflect on the storyline I realize some very good and significant points were made.

Historia
Amos Decker witnesses a murder just outside FBI headquarters. A man shoots a woman execution style on a crowded sidewalk, then turns the gun on himself. Even with Decker's extraordinary powers of observation and deduction, the killing is baffling. Decker and his team can find absolutely no connection between the shooter - a family man with a successful consulting business - and his victim, a schoolteacher.

As usual suspenseful and great narrative
Revisado: 05-05-17
Again, I was unable to figure this out and it kept me on the edge of my seat! I kept thinking one character was going to be the main connection of the crime, but I was wrong to the end. Keeping in mind that I pretty much can solve the "who-done-it" before we're 1/2 way through the book. This never happens with this author. The narration was excellent as usual. I recommend this book to everyone.

Excellent storyline and narrator
Revisado: 04-25-17
Rarely do I just sit and listen to a book. Usually I'm moving around running errands or doing chores. But the narrator was so good that I had to stop and listen while I envisioned the entire story. It was read so well that I always knew what character was speaking. The next great point is usually I figure out "who done it" before I'm halfway through the book (I quit reading Patterson books for this reason) but I didn't know until it was revealed--I love that I was kept guessing. I needed a new author and narrator and now I have one!
