Well I have been a student of recent history I felt as the story progressed that this was more on the line of the horror thriller fiction that is so popular today. I had to research the historical events that put her father in prison. In the article I read all events were confirmed. I have no problem with the author sharing her journey toward evangelical beliefs as some reviewers have. It is her story and she tells it well. Considering the fanatical devotion this cult has about the orders and hit list from their now dead leader I conclude that she has taken quite a personal risk by publishing g this. I admire her courage but hope she and her family will continue to thrive. A great psychological study

I thought the book was going to be about a loner who enjoyed nature. And it was But the horrible sexually abusive treatment to which the girl has become acclimated turns it into a story of pathos making me glad that I had a truly living and protective father yet knowing that there are messed up people like Turtkes family in this world. The gun fire at the end is horrible but the final two chapters seem to give hope.

What did you love best about Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good?

Well titled as the story unfolds. What I liked about this book is that Father Tim, the main character is now the age that I am currently. (I just turned seventy). He lives his life and makes wise choices based on the abilities that he still has. The book deals with Life and death and purpose and function in a realistic and positive way. Thus it is an encouragement for we the readers to face our lives in the same atiitude.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good?

This is a hard one, as there were so many moments in his life that i identify with. I am thinking of his experiences in the bookstore where he volunteers to help out the owner who is in the hospital with a difficult pregnancy. Perhaps his breakthrough with Sammy is also a memorable moment.

Which character – as performed by John McDonough – was your favorite?

Father Tim of course.

If you could take any character from Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would like to meet Cynthia, and talk with her about being the wife of a busy and dedicated man, also about marrying late in life and its rewards.

Any additional comments?

The entire series is one that I recommend a lot to my friends. I learn often vicariously through characters in books that I read. This series is so down to earth that it is easy to transplant oneself into its pages and come away with an attitude of wishing to go and do likewise.

If you could sum up My Mother Was Nuts in three words, what would they be?

Long. Funny Informative

What did you like best about this story?

the humaness of it

Which scene was your favorite?

Hard to say

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Inside view of TV and movies for boomers

Any additional comments?

Penny does a lot of name dropping in the book. It made it hard to read, but wonderful to listen too. Liked the way that Kindle and Audible synced together on this. It appeared that the author was reading from an earlier version of the book. There were some extra words and insights. But that was good.
