Real people read with inflection
Revisado: 11-04-24
This was a great story. I always enjoy stories from this author, but I will not likely listen to another AI-read book. There is no inflection or incorrect inflection in the voice and you can scarcely tell what character is speaking. It really detracted from the story so I have no interest in listening unless it's a real person reading it. This is a disservice to the author, who's books I otherwise always enjoy.

This book had a great message of forgiveness and mercy.
Revisado: 10-15-24
The characters are very likeable. Even those who seem to have no redeeming qualities deserve mercy and are afforded such. I very much enjoyed this book.

Historia
The publication of Rhett Butler's People marks a major and historic cultural event. Through the storytelling mastery of award-winning writer Donald McCaig, the life and times of the dashing Rhett Butler unfolds. Through Rhett's eyes we meet the people who shaped his larger than life personality as it sprang from Margaret Mitchell: Langston Butler, Rhett's unyielding father; Rosemary his steadfast sister; Tunis Bonneau, Rhett's best friend and a onetime slave; Belle Watling, the woman for whom Rhett cared long before he met Scarlett O'Hara at Twelve Oaks Plantation, on the fateful eve of the Civil War.

I love a happy ending!
Revisado: 04-03-24
This book gave everything from Rhett's point of view and explained background that we don't get anywhere else. It brings more depth to the characters and completes Margaret Mitchell's masterpiece.

Historia
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

Nothing could be more enchanting than a summer wedding - or two! - in Charleston's fabled Lowcountry. A centuries-old church, an avenue of ancient oaks dripping moss, a storied ballroom, a sand dune at sunset.... Yet when a stranger arrives, a long-held family secret could silence the bells ringing for the Muir sisters. Scandals surface, family bonds are questioned, and promises are broken and renewed.

Another winner-
Revisado: 07-12-21
I fell in love with the characters in the first book so really enjoyed them in this second in the series. Mary Alice Monroe is a wonderful story teller. I especially enjoy a book read by the author. The only constructive criticism I have is that the grandmothers seemed to blend together occasionally. I'm sure it's very difficult to switch back and forth between dialects though. Overall, I loved this book and can't wait for the next!
