Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Brilliant?

Kept me guessing all the way through so well written and great narrator; the kind that makes you forget about the voice and lets you focus on the character.

Decent courtroom drama
Revisado: 04-07-25
Decent storyline but went in a bit too much about religion sometimes. The voice was nice but sometimes you could tell it was voice generated.

In a small Southern town where loyalty to family and to "your people" carries the weight of a sacred oath, defying those unspoken rules can be a deadly proposition. He dreams of glass towers and cityscapes, driven by his desire to be anywhere other than Jessup, Missouri. The new kid at St. Ignatius High School, if he isn't being pushed around, he is being completely ignored.

Spellbinding and beautiful
Revisado: 03-26-25
I was captivated right away. I had already read later stories about Boadie Sandon but to hear about his young life in the backwoods of Missouri was fascinating. Allen Eakins weaves such a beautiful story that pulls you in and along for the entire book. It was quite different from his other stories. I didn’t want it to end!

I loved the weaving of the family stories through time
Revisado: 03-12-25
I had hoped for a little more variation in the timeline like his other novel London which started much earlier and stopped on more dates through time, but what was presented was excellent. I lived in Paris for 6 years so it brought back a lot of memories.

Excellent narrators and great storyline

I really enjoyed the several narrators and all the effort that went into dramatizing the story with music and authentic sounding radio or TV broadcasts and sounds. The storyline was quite different and had me wrapped up in it from the beginning.
