Good story with interesting characters. The main female character is a very relatable person who is balancing a professional life, motherhood, and a marriage that is going through bad times. There were enough twists in story to keep it interesting and the ending wasn't obvious. I will most likely listen to Book 2 of the Mara Brent Legal Thriller Series.

Time of Justice (Mara Brent Legal Thriller Series Book 1) by Robin James is about a lawyer named Mara Brent who is a tough and brilliant prosecutor who tackles tough cases. Her latest case is an unsolved case involving a close friend of hers. Her friend was brutally raped and left for dead. Twenty years and no clue. Then they get lucky because the serial rapist struck again. This time Mara wasn't going to let him get away with it.

The negative aspect I saw was the book started slow. It was hard to get into it at first. I would've started with the rape and then jump to the present. It would've had a better impact on the reader.

What I loved about the novel was Robin James made her protagonist, Mara Brent, formidable. There were times when Mara had to struggle with her professional and personal life. She is trying to deal with betrayal. Someone is trying to stop the truth from coming out. There are a lot of twists and turns to keep you to the end. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Vivienne Leheny does a great narration!! I liked this book better than the second in the series.

I enjoyed the story and it kept me on my toes most of the time. had some great turns that I was not expecting at all therefore, I soon found out that I probably wouldn't figure the outcome.
My disappointment was that a bad language in it and using words like ' Christ' as slain which was very offensive to me. For this reason I sadly will not purchase another.

If you like lawyer productions, this one is for you.

It was an easy listening with interesting twists although a little too conventional in treatment of family versus work issues.

The story is somewhat predictable, but that’s ok, but the narration for the male voices was not what it should have been. I would love both male and female voices to have the sound of their characters. Sure it cost more for the narration, but without it the story suffers and the book is then rated a 3 instead of a 5. This is a worthwhile book. Needed more information on all “Phil” knew. They kinda dropped that. Somewhat amateurish.
