He’s a brutal mafia boss, my new patient…and soon to be my baby’s daddy. After his car accident, I was the doctor assigned to the ruthless mafia boss, Sebastian Petrosky. His sinfully wicked smile drew me in, and those haunting blue eyes held me captive as I treated him. I became more than his doctor– I became his obsession. Soon, he claimed me. I come undone at the mere brush of his fingers against my flesh. He lured me deep into his shadowy world, blurring ethical lines that could cost me my medical career if anyone found out. Surprisingly Good!
Revisado: 11-20-24
Mafia and the Billionaire genre is on the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to my reading list but something drew me to this book and I'm glad it did.
Good writing and character development can make any genre a good read. I'll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

A Sweet Book
Revisado: 11-18-24
A sweet book, but I have read another one by the same author and there's always seems to be a rushed ending and things that just don't make sense and too many details left out so it's like you've dropped a book and half a dozen pages are falling out so I think although I enjoyed this book, I probably wouldn't read another one from the author again.

This thing me and Jo have, it’s real dangerous. And not just because of who we are.Passion. It’s reckless. Doesn’t care who sees or what it costs. It’s good if you have a little. Just enough to aim and shoot. Hit your goal. But it shouldn’t be spilling all over the place. Damn. I knew the danger. The whole time. She seemed a little lonely, but she seemed decent. Moral. Had her head in the right place. I just can’t remember why I thought that would keep me safe. Why would a woman not have the power to consume me, just because she was decent and moral? The Ending Ruined Everything!

The Ending Ruined Everything!
Revisado: 11-15-24
I stayed invested in this book even though I could see that it was going sideways, and running out of steam nearing the end.
If I have one pet peeve when it comes to books, it's when the writer rushes a book to hit a deadline, and wraps the book up terribly like what I feel happened here. I wish the writer had put down the book aside and really thought about a cohesive ending that made sense, and that didn't leave one feeling so frustrated and cheated!
I'm currently halfway through listening to Finding Camille, which is also by C.L. Donley, and so far I'm finding that book outstanding, so I'm truly shocked that both books are written by the same author.
I will be beyond mad if that book ends in a similar fashion as did one did!
I will still continue to read other C.L. Donley books, because I definitely feel that she has a some talent, just not when it comes to this title unfortunately.

The events of Jive take place in a not-too-distant future where things have gone from bad to worse. After the pandemics (and yes, there will be more) came the Bloom, an invasion that arrived in a way that no one could have predicted. It was a genetic invasion, the ancient alien hidden in our DNA “blooming”, an event that killed a third of the world population (that’s over one billion) and mutated a third into something slightly “more” than human. They were a daunting presence - and they were in charge.

Will This Book Be My First DNF In The Series? No!
Revisado: 07-17-22
I decided before starting this that it was going to be the last Middle Falls Book that I was going to listen to, so I was hoping that I was going to end the series on a great note, sadly I am struggling to continue I am currently on chapter 18.
I am extremely bored, I'm finding it hard to connect with Charles and he's as bland as the story-line, I can't imagine how this story could get any better, I'm hoping that it's a slow burner?
I'll continue until chapter 20 then I'll peace out gracefully if it continues in the same vain of going nowhere fast!
Jonathan Davis is the best thing about the book. As I always like to be a positive and fair person, I would still recommend this series because I've loved 8 out of 12 books and that's not a bad percentage!
Update: I finished the book and by the end I did warm to Charles, and his relationship with Moon-dog was very touching. I've increased my score and did enjoy it by chapter 50 or so, but I loved the first few books so much that it's hard to match up to those.

Historia
The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

A Divided Mind...
Revisado: 07-17-22
There's a lot to like in this tale, but it's nothing new or fresh that I haven't read before. I think I would have liked it a lot more if certain things had been a bit tightened up. The name choices ruined the story for me because after a while I was losing track fast of who was who and it got so annoying that I found it hard to care about the character's because I couldn't create an emotional link with them apart from Alex and the dog!
I think Johnathan McClain did an excellent job with the narration. I will admit that I did shed a tear or two while listening to this story, so there were definitely some sweet and tender moments written, as well as some heartbreaking ones.
I'm not sure if I will continue with this series as I already know heading into it that I'm going to get confused by the character's and I'm not sure that the story will go in a new or fresh direction that will captivate me. We'll see I guess!

Another McBook Knocked Out!
Revisado: 07-13-22
Fast food can be satisfy a craving, but I require more of a gourmet feast for my mind!
Decent narration, a predictable story that had nothing fresh or exciting about it, and in fact the last part of the book was slightly muddled, rushed and certain aspects didn't make any sense whatsoever and just seemed to be added to end the tale so that it was all tied up sweetly in a perfect bow which ruined the entire thing for me!
The so called love story that was centred around the whole book was pretty weak, and there was nothing especially unique or powerful about it that made it stand out, it was nothing more than a first love story that was milked to the max, and that should have ended for good so that new experiences could have been had by both.
I've enjoyed most of the series, but like a rich chocolate if you eat too much of it you will eventually get nauseous and will avoid it to try something new and nicer tasting!

From the outside, Rebecca Wright had an enviable life, and she enjoyed that envy. She had a beautiful house, handsome husband, and a no-limit credit card. What she didn't have was empathy. But, it's never too late in Middle Falls. A lesson that isn't learned in one lifetime can be learned in the next, or the next. Rebecca may need every chance she can get.

I'll Eat Humble Pie 🥧
Revisado: 07-12-22
I left a bit of a salty review for the previous book for the lack of diversity in this series, but this book at last has a fresh theme that deals with subjects that switch things up a bit.
I lost a few dear friends in the aids epidemic in the 1990s so my heart was extra broken listening to this story.
I have renewed hope that I will continue to enjoy The Middle Falls books.
Therese Plummer was excellent as usual and Shawn's back to leaving his little notes at the end which I love! 👌

Lacklustre...I'm Not Sure I Can Go On With These
Revisado: 07-09-22
As soon as I saw how short this title was compared to all of the others that I have listened to previously, I had a feeling that it wasn't going to impress me, and I was right. It's more of the same kind of people, doing the same kind of thing's but not as well or as exciting in the previous books.
This entire series needs more diversity in the people and their problems to keep things fresh and interesting.
Why not deal with astronauts, scientist's, slavery, interracial/homosexual love, or other such topics back in the day which would have brought an absorbing take on this theme! Constantly reading about either rich, middle class or poor folk of the same types in every book gets stale real quick!
Maybe there will be more multiplicity in future books but I'm 10 books in now so why has it taken so long, if it ever will?
*Spoiler Alert coming up so dip out now if you don't want the book ruined for you*
If Ned had of been a women it would have been a case of slashing the cops 4 car wheels when he was in the diner, and just like that job done!
The problem with this book was that every reset Ned had he did the bare minimum of things differently so they didn't change much, and the one time there could have been an interesting story like when he went to jail it was rushed and steamrolled over, we didn't even get to meet any new character's while he was banged up! I came up with a dozen thing's he could have done which would have changed the outcome for that life even if the girl died in another. I found myself wanting to get to the end just in hopes that the next book will be better. I'm not going to keep reading these books just because I've loved 6/9
I feel that the author is ruining out of ideas and steam for Middle Falls so much so he doesn't even bother leaving the sweet little notes after each book to explain his motivations for writing the character.
Ned was nice enough if not a bit bland, but the excitement has vanished for me. The next book is narrated by Therese Plummer and she's a favourite of mine, so that might help in boosting a weak storyline should there be one.
I still love Shawn Inmon and I have faith in him to make me love another one of his books, I'm just doubtful that it will be in this series.
