so I saw all the critics going ham, and I thought oof, maybe they had a point.
so I waited a long time before getting this one. and I'm kinda sad I did. sure it's not fast paced, but predators had so much leveling, it makes sense it takes practically an entire book to go over it.
so I'm not mad. good job doc.

FYI I actually just finished gods eye awakening,

and lemme say Monsters is a lot better. its rpg, it's funny, it's action, and it's the right level of grimdark.
this, this book is cash money. awakening spent too much time watching over the bad guys shoulders.

but anyways enjoy it all. beats comics and marvel movies by a factor of 10000.

Painful to listen to. Not cause of the narrator, but the story and characters were so unlikable I couldn't enjoy any of it. The dwarf naming scheme made me sad.
So after skipping chapters to find a point where I could just get in the groove, i stopped and sent back. I'm sad because I wanted to enjoy it but I couldn't.

first series was great, a badass warrior, and everything. humor was still here, but if we took out all the magic race, racial profiling shit, we'd cut out a third of the book. this is a nope, that doesn't go Anywhere except the pits.

second was a great sequel, though sequels tend to be sucky. so not a high mark
three was kinda laggy, boring
this, not even finished and I had to rate. amazing, I've been doubled over all daym day. great Fekking job!!

standard thriller fare

if you've seen it once you've seen it a hundred times.

people stuck on a ship against the world, the world has changed because of ancient sins. now they will pay for crimes they never committed. so there's Noble warrior drunk, foolish squire rebel, dying honest Lord, and they're going to fight each other and the void beasts beneath the clouds. ares will die, but they just might find the little piece of something in Hades that'll stabilize the rebels or point the way to a new home.
yet for all that it's a decent ride if u don't think too hard about the implausibility and failure of humans to actually work smartly like they can and do in the real world.

this is super nerd know it all fantasy. and it falls very flat for me. everything is in complete monotone with little to no imagery or scale for most things. explanations tend to be this happened or such quick brusque understandings bcuz our narrator understands too much and can't really be bothered to tell the reader much. maybe it got better after the first half, but I gave up. still author shows promise and I laughed a few times. I think a few more years to hone their craft will generate a very good story.

very complex

I can tell something I like after some time in the story though others are repulsive before the end of the first chapter. this was really good but I could not stand the performer. It's not that she's bad, her enunciation is just so hard to listen to. and her speech cadence is so fast. I wonder if she paid too much attention to saying entire sentences with a single breath that she skips over adjatives or clobbers them into a single word. The writing is so detailed that I really wished she spent more time saying the words clearly, but I also blame the editing rather than her. as for the story bizarre but good.

kinda bummed by this one

I couldn't get through it, I love the first story in the series and rileys personal adventure. those were awesome epic and did things. this one felt like bagwell wanted to fill out how odd the hippie god is and I really can't stand his baloney. I think a much better story could have been about Jason's best friend. show his adventure and dealing with his uptight family.
