Historia
At the end of the 1980s, when the Cold War ended, many, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, believed that democracy had triumphed politically once and for all. Yet nearly 30 years later, the direction of history no longer seems certain. A repressive and destructive force has begun to reemerge on the global stage - sweeping across Europe, parts of Asia, and the United States - that to Albright, looks very much like fascism.

An excellent account of the historical back story of the age of Fascism with a fair assessment of the current trends which should give rise to concerns of a repeat of such human folly. It can and is happening again.

Historia
December, 1323 AD - Holly and ivy decorate the houses while voices are raised in song, but the Christmas cheer is tempered by terror this festive season, as demons haunt a small English village. Strange thefts; cloven hoof-prints in the snow; a house burned to the ground. Something evil stalks the icy streets of Brandesburton and former mercenary Tuck must find out what, before it's too late. As he sets out to solve the mystery the friar prays his faith will protect him.

Great performance of a grand story.
Revisado: 11-16-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Friar Tuck and the Christmas Devil to be better than the print version?
Nick Ellsworth delivers a first rate performance of Good Friar's Christmas adventure and I find his Tuck voice to be a perfect match to this wonderful short story. The read alone is great and the listen now makes the story that much better.
What did you like best about this story?
I find McKay's "Tuck" character to be the best of the many Tucks produced over the years. Most realistic in manner and his back story puts him in the context of the outlaw model with a most complete and believable grounding.
Have you listened to any of Nick Ellsworth’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have enjoyed listening to all of the McKay stories as read by Nick Ellsworth. Mr. Ellsworth gives each story a life in voice that enhances every aspect of the adventure.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The manner in which Tuck relates to the young brother and sister as an understanding friend and fellow outlaw brings an element of humanity to his character which warms the story to just the right degree.

A great back story to the Wolf series by McKay
Revisado: 08-01-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Knight of the Cross to be better than the print version?
Yes... Nick Ellsworth is the perfect voice for story
What did you like best about this story?
The character development.
Which scene was your favorite?
End of the story was the best part.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes!
Any additional comments?
Fun adventure of Sir Richard-at-Lee which gives the back story of the Knights Hospitallers (aka Order of the Knights of Saint John) and helps in filling in the character of Sir Richard as he plays into the "The Forest Lord" series by Steven McKay.

All Mrs. Pollifax has to do is help a bumbling CIA agent confirm the identities of seven undercover informants in Morocco. A simple assignment. But right away, things go wrong. The first informant is murdered just after Mrs. P. identifies him in Fez. Worse, she has the frightening sensation that her associate is not who or what he says he is.

Another homerun for Gilman, Pollifax and Rosenblat
Revisado: 04-07-15
What did you love best about Mrs. Pollifax and the Whirling Dervish?
The strong performance by Ms. Rosenblat breathing life into each of the wonderful characters brings to life another great adventure story of this dynamic spy lady. Lots of very interesting information along the way helps make the world of Mrs. Pollifax's travels fuller and most complete in the story backdrops.
What other book might you compare Mrs. Pollifax and the Whirling Dervish to and why?
I would also recommend the entire Amelia Peabody series written by Elizabeth Peters and performed by Barbara Rosenblat.
Which scene was your favorite?
Did anyone catch the reference to Emerson very early in the book? I do not recall anyone named Emerson in connection to Mrs. Pollifax but in the Amelia Peabody series Ms. Peabody's husband is named Emerson. Was this an error or is there another Pollifax character that I missed or was this done to see if we are really listening? I did like the opening scene with the visit from Bishop to brief Mrs. Pollifax on the mission.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Too many great moments in the story to pick just one for comment.
Any additional comments?
Is Emily Pollifax having a fling with Amelia Peabody's husband Emerson?

Good Science
Revisado: 06-11-12
Where does The Edge of Evolution rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Good review of the Science that supports Darwinian concepts and theory with a fair look to the limits of the operative underlying science as we know it today. A bit too tech talking in places but a fair college education can make it's way through the word war to find value in the content. I am just now wondering what selection forces might be at work to favor stupidity in the current state of the Human Species.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Edge of Evolution?
No memorable moments in this work.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The voice given to this book was a bit too edgy for my taste.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nothing in this book moved me in any strong manner.
Any additional comments?
Generally worth the read for anyone interested in the world of modern science.
