The book is wonderful. Virtual Voice is horrible

I have owned this book for years and love it along with the rest of Ms D'Arc's books. I only got the audible once I noticed it was Virtual Voice because it was $2. The voice would not be too bad if it took short breaks between sentences and character voices. so you know who is talking and get some texture to the story. The only reason I knew who was speaking was because I had read the book several times. I slowed the narration down to 80% and was able to improve it, but not by much.

Great voice, fair story, poorly read

I really struggled listening to the audio. The story itself had too many words that said little to the point that it felt repetitive, especially at the beginning of the story. Craig Bowles has a beautiful, deep voice that I could listen to forever, but in the reading of this story, there was very little inflection to distinguish different voices, emotions or anything else. It was read straight, as if he was reading the story to himself, not to others. As a result, I found it really difficult to keep up with the story and gave up after chapter 4. I have tried listening several different times over the past few weeks and just could not do it.

Sexy male voice had little variation in tone

Ethan by T. J. Quinn - I read this story and enjoyed it. I attempted to listen to the story as well. The narrator's voice is deep, sexy and lovely to listen to. However, there was little to no variation to his voice as he read the book to separate the characters or to demonstrate emotion. As a result, the beautiful voice kept putting me to sleep, hence my rating. I had to restart the audio multiple times just to get through a few chapters. I think this will be my go-to audio when I need to go off into dreamland listening to a sexy voice.

Not an HEA story although very well performed

I actually enjoyed the story up to the very end. The characters were lovable and loved each other. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the alien world, housing, clothing and so on. I was just shocked that it was not a happy ending for anyone. In my opinion, it falls out of the romance category of stories and just as the name says, it is a surrogacy story. I really struggled as to whether the story should be 3 or 4 stars since the ending was a real downer.

I thought that the performance of the story was quite well done. It was easy to tell the characters apart.

Wonderful romance with unexpected twists

Enjoyed this story with unexpected path to love. Not like any other romance that I have heard or read before which made for a really nice change. Was not thrilled with the narrator's accent/voice when he was voicing Caleb, but got used to him after a while.

Wonderful bear shifter romance

Bianca D'Arc writes wonderful shifter romances and beautifully describes her characters and their world. This story is is about a bear-shifter community that allows three human sisters to move into the town that they are creating. The twists and turns that cause the eldest sister to discover that the sexy men around town are not just men are well written and enjoyable.

Rhiannon Angell does a lovely job narrating the story. I was able to easily distinguish between the characters as she changed her voice to match each individual and their moods. I enjoyed the story and narration so much that I purchased books 2 and 3 as well.

Another fabulous S E Smith book read by D Brenin

I read and loved this book, it's characters and plot are well written and believable. Listening to the story being read by David Brenin brings it to life and helps me pick up on things I missed when reading the book, even after reading it a few times.

Although read with a male voice, it is easy to distinguish between the different male and female characters. Beautifully performed.

Fun romance

I rarely care for royalty type stories, but this one looked fun and it was. Sam is a snarky, hard working, intelligent woman working on her graduate program when she is told that her mom came from royalty. She is disbelieving and has to be convinced to go for a visit even after the media makes her life hellish.

The narrator did a lovely job switching accents and including Sam's sarcasm and wit.

Plan to look for another book by Nichole Chase after listening to this book.

Loved Off Base

I was pleased with this audio story. The narrator did a great job distinguishing the different characters and portraying the characters feelings. I listened to the whole story in a single listen.
