Love the narrator’s voice. I look for stories she narrates. Author is very good and the twist at the end unexpected!

Language was starting to get filthy after several chapters with out any.
I returned it because of the offensive gratuitous language . Why author have to ruin a story is beyond me.

weird narrator robot
Revisado: 03-10-24
don’t really care for the weird robot. Like narrator voice. Definitely sounds like an AI. A Some gratuitous words were used that I believe were extremely unnecessary. A few uses of the F word for no reason really. There wasn’t any language like this until almost all the way through the book.
Several times the Lord’s name was used in vain, which I’m not crazy about either.
if those were taken out of the story, it wouldn’t be a bad book and probably would have received a higher star rating from me

Historia
Michael Hiebert’s remarkable debut novel tells the riveting story of a small Southern town haunted by tragedy. Abe Teal wasn’t even born when Ruby Mae Vickers went missing twelve years ago. Few people in Alvin, Alabama, talk about the months spent looking for her, or about how Ruby Mae’s lifeless body was finally found beneath a willow tree. Even Abe’s mom, Leah, Alvin’s only detective, has avoided the subject. But now, another girl is missing.

Annoying narration in 2 of the characters
Revisado: 10-11-22
The story is great . The narrator does a wonderful job on the accents except for Ben and Jenny. I can’t stand listening to her voice when she tries to speak with an American accent. She sounds like she is reading from something, unlike when she speaks in all the other characters. There is 2 hours left of this book and 1 more in the series 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️I hope I can deal with those voices 😝😝
