Good first entry, and well worth the credit. 5 stars to see where this goes.
Hopefully the author doesn’t rush past the survival/world building. There seems to be a pattern, rush to the evil galactic system overlords. Could use more of the day to day survival.

Our main character still needs some refinement and a clearer decision making process. Well maybe a more consistent decision making process.
Side characters are interesting and are given enough life to keep the dialogue engaging.

Sticks closely to the perspective of our guys Eric and RugRat. Moves the story into what feels like the last arc and gets out protagonists power levels to a competitive point. Looking forward to the next but sad it feels like it is ending.

Definitely not my favorite in the series, but it keeps the story moving forward. In my opinion this book ties up lots of loose ends but is really a set up for the next ark.
I will say I appreciate how the author includes grief, and sadness. Shading into Grimdark but keeps it at a very human level.
