Historia
It’s hard to give up on the feeling that the life you really want is just out of reach. A beach body by summer. A trip to Disneyland around the corner. A promotion on the horizon. Everyone wants to believe that they are headed toward good, better, best. But what happens when the life you hoped for is put on hold indefinitely?

Thoughtful and well written!

Dr. Bowler continues to write books that have both meaningful content and a delivery that allows us to face the difficulties of life with humor, kindness, and intentionality. I am grateful for her candor and her ability to share her own experience in ways that help others to be more empathetic, understanding and better humans.

Historia
Fred Rogers fiercely believed that all people deserve love. This conviction wasn’t simply sentimental: it came directly from his Christian faith. God, he insisted, loves us just the way we are. In Exactly as You Are, Shea Tuttle looks at Fred Rogers’s life, the people and places that made him who he was, and his work through Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. She pays particular attention to his faith - because Fred Rogers was a deeply spiritual person, ordained by his church with a one-of-a-kind charge: to minister to children and families through television.

A remarkably written account of the faith and faithfulness of Fred Rogers
Revisado: 03-21-21
Shea Tuttle has written an in-depth and insightful book detailing the faith life and faithful action of Fred Rogers. She explores his full character from his doubts and insecurities to his willingness to be thought of as foolish —all for the sake of doing what he believed God wanted him to do: love people just the way they are.
Thank you Shea for your thoughtful writing and theological reflection upon the life of the man we know as Mr. Rogers.

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

Thought provoking and calls into question many aspects of our busy lives
Revisado: 02-28-20
Essentialism is a way of life—Not simply a choice during a specific season of our lives. I’ve learned from this book that implementing essentialism is difficult, takes great intentionality, and is vitally important for us, our families, and our communities.

I find Cal Newport’s historical and intellectual interrogation of our history of technology and current usages of/being used by it, as insightful, honest, and challenging to the ways in which we engage with technology. I’m grateful for his practical tips and insights and I hope to utilize these tools in my own professional and personal life.

Historia
For so many, the Christian faith is viewed as little more than a drug that enables the weak to escape reality. An opiate that helps its users to avoid facing the injustice of the world and making a stand against it. In short, the Christian faith is perceived to be a counter-revolutionary ideology that keeps people passive, infantile, and ineffectual. In contrast, Peter Rollins has crafted a series of parables that shatter this popular perception.

Revisado: 08-20-19
So good to listen to Peter himself read and tell his stories. Provocative and wonderfully thoughtful stories. As the parable Jesus were so often heard and not read, this audiobook edition is excellent and helps the listener engage in different senses of meaning making and understanding.

This book is especially helpful and thought-provoking in positive ways for white Christians – – especially those in leadership and pastoral positions in churches, nonprofits, and the wider community. Always fun to listen to Rob Bell read his own work
Revisado: 05-04-18
I enjoyed the audio edition with Rob Bell reading his own book. The nuance and humor shine through to greater detail because he is reading it. There are also quirky and fun asides that I would bet are not in the printed text.
