FANTASTIC EP. Be happier & maybe save the world!
Revisado: 02-15-22
FANTASTIC EPISODE! If we all followed this advice, we'd be more content and happier - and in addition, the world would be a better place. Stop hiding from your internal issues & fears (which get stuck in our Lizard Brains) - confront them directly by doing the needed work on yourself.... and PLEASE people, to save the world: engage with and make friends with someone on the opposite political side from you. You'll find lots in common if you stay off of politics.

Historia
Our world is full of unshakable mystery, and although we live in a civilization more complicated than ever, there is simplicity and reassurance to be found in knowing how and why. From the New York Times best-selling creator of Lost in Translation, Eating the Sun is a delicately existential, welcoming exploration of the universe - one that examines and marvels at the astonishing principles, laws, and phenomena that we exist alongside, that we sit within.

A nice idea, but the execution is insufferable.
Revisado: 12-12-21
The seemingly random selection of scientific content is useful, for example, to use this audiobook to fall asleep to, but the narrator is absolutely painful to listen to. The narrator's overly enthusiastic rendition is utterly ridiculous, distracting and, frankly, insufferable. This unfortunate narration detracts from the collection of scientific information that is somewhat interesting.

We can’t go back and change the past. We can’t erase trauma and hardship. But what if there was a way to regain control of our personal narratives? In the second part of our series on storytelling, we look at how interpreting the stories of our lives — and rewriting them — can change us forever. Also, a note that this week's episode touches on themes of trauma and suicide. If you or someone you know may be having thoughts of suicide, please call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

Think about the last time you asked someone for something. Maybe you were nervous or worried about what the person would think of you. Chances are that you didn't stop to think about the pressure you were exerting on that person. This week, we revisit a favorite episode about a phenomenon known as "egocentric bias," and look at how this bias can lead us astray. If you like our work, please consider supporting it! Helpful as well as interesting content. We can be influential if we simply try to be. The recounting of those famous experiments was also very good.
