Lady Theodosia Balfour has certainly gotten the short end of the stick—her stepsister, the newly crowned Princess Beatrice, is telling everyone in polite society that Theo, her sister, and their mother are evil, wicked, and horrid people who treated her like a slave. Though Theo knows this isn't exactly true, it seems her life is thoroughly ruined by the rumor. With the Balfour family estate on the verge of bankruptcy, Theo's only path forward is a forced betrothal to the Duke of Snowbell, a foul-tempered geezer who wishes only to use her as a brood mare for spare heirs.

I loved this story! It was a very creative retelling of the old Cinderella story told from one of the step sister’s point of view. I highly recommend for an excellent, light hearted listen.

Pretty good
Revisado: 03-06-25
I don’t usually listen to this genre, but I did enjoy the story. It was mostly believable, and it was fun to listen to how everything came together. I’d recommend it.
I appreciate that there were no sex scenes. Audible should have a way to let listeners know before they buy a book whether there are explicit sex scenes. I hate getting caught in a good book with one of those.

Terrible!
Revisado: 02-12-25
While I found it very interesting hearing the story of the TVA land grab of the 50’s and early 60’s, this story was the most poorly written story I have ever heard on audible. To top off the poor writing, the computer narration was horrible. There was no emotion or feeling shown in the reading. I only finished it because I had nothing else. Would NOT recommend.

Overuse of F word
Revisado: 12-13-24
While the story had a happy ending, it was just okay as a story. I didn’t like the extensive use of the F word, and I like to think that sex is special, not just another thing that people do when they meet.
