Historia
Someone is committing random murders across Chicago—and making sure detectives Billy Harney (Aaron Paul) and Patti Harney (Krysten Ritter) are first on the crime scene. What connects the victims, and why is the killer leaving clues behind with each body? Billy and Patti are scrambling to stop the next killing when their father, Chief of Detectives Dan Harney (Beau Bridges), is kidnapped. But in their race to track him down, they uncover pieces of his past that simply can’t be true. Could their own flesh and blood be covering up a dark secret?

Predictable turn, tedious plot, good performances
Revisado: 07-06-24
I felt the continuous extensions of the kidnappers demands were a bit tedious, overall the plot was a little bit predictable, but I enjoyed the performances of the voice actors. Kind of feel like it's a disposable work, probably good for this TikTok era.

Historia
Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

Good story but ...
Revisado: 07-05-24
Just cant get over the gang bang in the sewer. 11 year olds?? No doubt I would not let the author babysit our minor children. Aside from the pedo scene, characters were crafted, provided more than ample back story to support the plot and would recommend to friends and family if not for the bizarre sex scene. Narration was outstanding.

Historia
In 1915, Sir Ernest Shackleton's attempt to traverse the Antarctic was cut short when his ship, Endurance, became trapped in ice. The disaster left Shackleton and his men alone at the frozen South Pole, fighting for their lives. Their survival and escape is the most famous adventure in history. Shackleton is a captivating new account of the adventurer, his life, and his incredible leadership under the most extreme of circumstances.

Historia
Here is a gripping novel, inspired by real-life events, about a private team of British vigilantes that sets out to eliminate a gang of cold-blooded contract killers. From 1977 to 1990, four former British soldiers die, one by one, supposedly due to accident or illness. But soon a link is established between the victims: a shared mission in the desert kingdom of Oman, where they fought for a sultan against insurgents and ruined the life of a rival sheikh.

Great counterpoint to Into Thin Air, which i liked but felt the perspective was biased against some of the others on the expeditions. Reading this and Left for Dead confirmed my suspicions. Would recommend !

Historia
All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.

Average story - good narration- music bumpers???
Revisado: 03-24-24
The bumper music between chapters - overused, annoying and gets in way of story. Too loud and detracts from suspense of several key passages. What were the publishers thinking???
Otherwise, the book is mediocre. First part is good, then 3 related stories that are pretty dull. Because it is Stephen King, i want to give benefit of doubt, but and random author i would take a pass

Good story great voice narration
Revisado: 06-12-23
Would rate five stars were it not for the breakage of narrative point of view. Slightly annoying and intrusive, the POV jumps in occasionally to offer explicit observations that would be better woven in the actual plot without breaking POV.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

Not to Gaiman’s standard of
Revisado: 01-03-23
If this is any other author, I suppose it’s better be OK. Neil has set a standard that perhaps is too high, but this just feels in person compared to everything else that I’ve read by him. A bit convoluted, the plot is a bit wayward, and felt drawn out. Maybe it’s just me, not my cup of tea, but everything else I’ve heard by him I have very much enjoyed.
