More of a production - less of an audiobook,

I really like RJS' books. But not a big fan of productions or podcasts being passed off as audiobooks. This has music, multiple actors, etc. Great, but not a book being read by a single skilled narrator.

The narration is terrible

The narration is terrible, and the story has suddenly become hard to follow. I really like the authors and the previous narrator, but I won't be purchasing any more of this series in audio until the narration improves.

Is this a podcast or a book?

I bought this awhile back, but just started listening to it recently. UGG. The author is impressive, the story is probably interesting, but please, if you want to do an interview or commentary on your book, do it in a separate podcast. In my view blending the formats ruins the experience of listening to the book. I tried to go in and get a refund but there wasn't an option. probably because I purchased the book too long ago. Lesson learned.

This turned into a Christian theology lesson. The a author could have referenced a huge body of philosophy to come up with similar ideas. No thanks.

Another audiobook with live inserts

I struggled with this audiobook.

I tried listening to this twice and just couldn't get through it. To start with, I wish authors and Audible would clearly state when an audiobook has "extra" content inserted into the the narration of the printed book. Meaning inserted interviews, or podcasts clips. This is becoming more common and I know some people consider it a bonus. I just find it annoying. Skipping through this content to find the actual audiobook becomes tedious.

As for the the content of the book and the narration ... The narration was difficult to listen to. This is a preference issue on my part, and I'm sure some people will really like it. The content I listened to before stopping was interesting, but not uncommon, and not worth the energy it took to get through the book.

This was a good book and the star of a good series

The story was great, the narration ... One thing that did grate on my ears, everytime I heard it, was pronouncing corpsman as corpse-man. The S is always silent. It was that way throughout the book. Setting that feedback aside, the narrator was skilled, did multiple voices well, had exceptional tempo, and overall created added value to the story. I would have no problem purchasing a book with the same narrator in the future, or by the same author.

terrible narration ... and not like a MN book

I was expecting hypnotherapy sessions, but got something that I think was supposed to be a soothing, calming, narration going over concerns, and how they were resolved by this process. I could.take about 60 seconds of it. I kept hoping it was just an Introduction, but it turned out to be the actual book. Getting my credit back and moving on to find a MN styled book.

Wow

I wasn't sure I'd like this book, but was pleasantly surprised. It's good historical fiction, and the humor is pleasantly subtle and ongoing. One thing I like is that it's almost tangential humor, and not at all the main point. This book is a gem.
