I think this will be my last Monica Walters read
Revisado: 04-21-25
I think this will be my last Monica Walters read because there is a such thing as too much gratuitous sex in a book. I am interested in romance not erotica. It was so extreme that it was actually a distraction from what could have been an okay love story. This was a no for me. Yuck.

Necessarily long and detailed
Revisado: 02-21-25
this is the second book I’ve read by this author, and I just think these books give too much detail and are necessarily long feels like word padding

Love the story, hate that
Revisado: 02-14-25
Main characters names were mispronounced by either the male or female narrator. No idea whether it should be LaNae or Lenia and that really took away from the story.

Story was great. Narration was terrible
Revisado: 02-06-25
In what world does it make sense that the male narrator says Lenae and the female narrator says La’Nae for one of the main characters for the entire book? Did any producer listen to this book in entirety after they recorded it?

Historia
In order to find love, you have to take a chance. You have to open yourself up to the possibility of being hurt. You have to expose yourself in a way that you usually wouldn't; allow others to see vulnerabilities that you try to hide. Journalist Aria Smith tried that three years ago and it ended in disaster. Now, she's just trying to focus on moving up the ladder in her career. She's just been handed the most coveted interview in sports writing, so it looks like she's well on her way. Basketball star Tory Barker is fresh off of a championship season and is in high demand right now.

The narration was horrible
Revisado: 12-09-24
I meant, I made it all the way to the end of the story which was bland and boring, and then at the very end learned that it was narrated by virtual voice so now I know why it sounded like the narrator was reading the newspaper the entire time with no emotion and it made the story that may have been a 3 a 2

I can’t deal with the male narrator
Revisado: 09-06-24
Story moved a little slow for me. I don’t think it needed to be so long. But more than that, the male narrator sounds like I don’t know. He has something in his mouth when he reads, which is very distracting.

I cannot
Revisado: 07-15-24
The narrator was not good. She read too slow and halted with no emotion. The story had too much drug abuse and SA and sadness for my taste. My reading is for romance and escapism not Good Times level of struggle. Then yet another cliff hanger. I think I’m done with this author. I know it is some folks taste but it is not my cup of tea.

I liked it but…

I really liked the entire series but I felt like it was unnecessarily drawn out. It could have been 4 books instead of six. Ethic and Alani broke up one too many times and I wanted to hear more about Messiah and Morgan.

For better or worse… That was the promise Denver and Kensa made, but it’s a sentiment they’ve somehow lost along the way. What started as a passionate wildfire has diminished to a flicker, all but snuffed out by unspoken fears, perceived betrayal, and a complete breakdown in communication. Can either of them tuck their ego away long enough to rekindle their flame?
