Historia
After a college student speeding in a blue Honda Civic kills her husband of less than a year, Olivia is completely lost. One hot summer day, she walks into the beachfront Rhode Island cottage she and David bought the previous August—the place where they had planned to someday start a family—and finds a stranger sitting at her kitchen table. Pregnant fifteen-year-old Ruby is looking for a safe haven for herself and her baby-to-be. Olivia takes her in, desperate to assuage her grief through human connection, even with a troubled teenager.

I don’t know why I keep giving this author chances. I’ve read/listened to many of her books and they never get better.

Historia
When 22-year-old Jennifer Worth, from a comfortable middle-class upbringing, went to work as a midwife in the poorest section of postwar London, she not only delivered hundreds of babies and touched many lives, she also became the neighborhood's most vivid chronicler. Call the Midwife: Farewell to the East End is the last book in Worth's memoir trilogy, which the Times Literary Supplement described as "powerful stories with sweet charm and controlled outrage" in the face of dire circumstances.

This book feels like it repeats the first book. Does not include very many new situations. It was ok, just not as good as the first book.

Narrator is AI. Very monotone and doesn’t pronounce words correctly. Story also makes no sense. Are we sure this is a Stephan King book? Not worth listening too.

Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. Historia
When twenty-two-year-old Jennifer Worth, from a comfortable middle-class upbringing, went to work as a midwife in the direst section of postwar London, she not only delivered hundreds of babies and touched many lives, she also became the neighborhood';s most vivid chronicler. Woven into the ongoing tales of her life in the East End are the true stories of the people Worth met who grew up in the dreaded workhouse, a Dickensian institution that limped on into the middle of the twentieth century.

Disappointed
Revisado: 11-21-23
I’ve watched Call the Midwife, I’ve read both Call the Midwife and Yes Sister No Sister. My hopes and expectations for this book were high, as I enjoyed the other two books.
This book barely touches on the workhouses. It mostly covers the story of an older gentleman that Jenny cares for, he has nothing to do with the workhouses. His story is featured in Call the Midwife, which if I had known, I would not have bought the book, as I was already familiar with the story.

Roots is a groundbreaking story of history and family that spanned continents and touched generations. One of the most important books and television series ever to appear, Roots galvanized the nation and created an extraordinary political, racial, social, and cultural dialogue that hadn’t been seen since the publication of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The book sold more than one million copies in the first year, and the miniseries was watched by an astonishing 130 million people. It also won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

I have waited for at least a decade for Audible to have this book in the library. The book is great, I have it in print and enjoy reading it.
The narrator ruined it. The voices she attempts for the characters are awful, you can hear her smacking her lips and making other irritating noises.
My heart is literally broken at how bad it turned out.

Historia
For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.
